Chapter Forty

HEAVEN

"Heaven is my wife," he said in a prideful way.

The way in which he had said it made me feel like I was floating.

Marcus opened his mouth but no word came out, so he pulled out a chair and sat down, looking defeated.

The clink of plates and glasses replaced the awkward conversation.

Mother and Mabel's face held a blank expression. I couldn't tell what was going on in their head

"Where do work now, Heaven?" Mabel asked with a mouthful after a moment of silence. "I work at The Erickson company as the head of the creative team." She doesn't give me the chance reply before she listed her achievement.

I thought it might end there but mother as always wanted to brag about her daughter.

"You know, your sister was going to resign and go to London to look for a job at a better company like Jones Enterprise, Thayer and others but Erick... he did not like the idea of letting her go because she is obviously good at what she does." Mother said pridefully.
