A summon for physical assault.
Kelvin couldn’t be reading right. Charles Black was filing a case against Leilani May McKenna for physical assault. How in God’s name did that happen? Tentatively, he reached for the pictures. There were mostly pictures of Charles.
Pictures of him with his shoulder bleeding. Blood rolling down his temple. Pictures of a broken pencil, an ashtray. Attached to the letter was a medical report with the total expenses spent on stitches for his head and other things.
Did Leila do that to him? The thought of his wife smashing a tray on Charles’s head almost made him smile with pride. Leila was not that violent but it was good to imagine her hitting Charles.
Kelvin picked his phone up and called his lawyer. There was no way Leila would go to court. His lawyer didn’t pick, so he called Charles.

Leila’s heart shattered. She was just as stunned as Kelvin but she recovered faster. She cleared her throat and stepped forward with a hand stretched for a handshake.“Hi, mum.
