Liam P.O.V. I can’t wait to see Maddie’s face when she sees what I have up my sleeve today. I know she is sad her brother had to leave for his pack, so I planned a little something for her. Not without help from my mother, I might add. Otherwise this would have not happened. I smile to myself. So much has changed already. People are accepting of Maddie and her gifts, and they are getting more used to animals running in and out of the pack grounds. We have not had any big wounded visitors since the day Piper brought her friend back, but he has been back multiple times on his own. Maddie says it’s to say thank you, and I have to take her word for it.“Where are we going?” Maddie asks with a small laugh, and I remember I actually brought a blindfold for her. “Hey! I just remembered this!” I say, picking it out from my pocket. The laughter rises, from a small chuckle to a full belly laugh. “I’m not putting that on.” She says, and I give her a cheeky look. “Oh no?” “Nuh uh.” She cros
Maddison P.O.V. Everything is blurry. My eyes don’t want to adjust to the dim light, but my ears work perfectly fine, and I can hear someone speaking nearby. They are discussing something. Someone. Me? I try to think back. Where am I? The last thing I remember was Liam wanting to show me something. He was about to remove the blindfold. I reach up to my eyes, but the fold is gone. So that is not why I can’t see. Then what is? I think back again, but it hurts my head. Ember is whimpering and growling, sad and angry all at the same time. Something is blocking my memory. I pinch my eyes in concentration. Then it hits me. Someone grabbed me from behind. Someone that wasn’t Liam. I heard a commotion, and I tried to rip the blindfold off, but before I could anything something sharp penetrated my neck and the world went dark. A tear slides down my cheek. Who would take me? Why would they take me? I am a nobody.‘You’re the Luna of Blackmoon pack and the mate of Alpha Liam. You are not a no
Liam P.O.V. “Liam?” Ow my head hurts! “Liam?” Why does someone keep saying my name? “LIAM!” Oh for the love of the Moon Goddess! Someone keeps screaming my name, and I can’t seem to find the energy to actually open my eyes. My head hurts, my heart hurts and everything else is just numb. What the fuck is happening to me? “You need to give him more time, Clara.” Someone else says in a much gentler voice. Clara? My sister? “But he needs to wake up, mom! He needs to find Maddie.” Clara answers with anger and worry in her voice. Maddie? The name rings a bell, but not enough for me to remember who she is. “He will, as soon as he wakes up, darling. And we are looking for her. We will never let her down.” “We already did, mom. We knew Rick was a sick son of a bitch, and we didn’t protect her enough.” “I know. I was there, sweetheart.” Clara mumbles sorry, and pictures begin to play in my head. A girl with the most gorgeous smile. Us holding hands. A heated night of passion. Her cryi
Maddison P.O.V. It’s been days since I was brought to this horrid place, but so far it hasn’t been too bad, for some reason no one has tried to hurt me for information. I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop, but so far it’s just been Rick who has been here a couple of times a day to try and talk to me. It seems he has given up for now, as he has not been by my cell so far. Looking out the small window, I would say it’s just around noon, give or take. He’s usually here in the morning, afternoon and evening, but some days he’ll be here more and some days less. How he can run a pack and be here so much is beyond me, but I fear he has abandoned them to his sister, which is just terrible on so many levels. He really is an awful Alpha. I don’t want to speak to him, which I made abundantly clear the first day when he welcomed me to hell. He has no idea what hell is, and this is not it. This is just an inconvenience. A bump in the road back to my mate. My thoughts sadden for a sec
Liam P.O.V. It didn’t pass as good news when I told my ranked members about their Luna, but there was really nothing we could do. Right there it was in the hands of our Goddess, and I needed to heal. It didn’t stop any of them contacting their friends in other packs to hear if they had gotten an unexpected visitor, but so far nothing had come up. Not until Clara spoke to an old school friend in the Red River pack. She says something happened a few days ago, and their Alpha said they were hosting a rogue girl important to Iron Mountain’s Alpha in their dungeon. No one dared ask questions, and thus they all just went on their merry way. Clara curses on the phone, and her friend asks a question to which she answers that the rogue is our Luna and my mate. I can hear the friend gasp, but there is nothing she or her allies can do. Clara learns a rebellion is underway in the Red River pack, to throw Alpha Tywin and his family out as rogues, so they can have an Alpha they won’t have to be
Maddison P.O.V. 20 minutes later we’re all gathered in the conference room. I had to go downstairs as some of our pack members wanted to see me for themselves before believing I was unharmed. I asked Selene if she would mind waiting, and she just shooed me out of the room. I guess that means she didn’t mind.Pack members had gathered at the staircase in the hall, and all of them cheered and hollered when they saw me with Liam. Liam. He has been strange since I came back with Selene. I know he blames himself, although there is nothing to be blamed for. He couldn’t know. His mom didn’t know. None of this is his fault, but he is an Alpha and therefore predisposed to think that the world is laying on his shoulders. I need to get through to him.As we were saying goodbye to the pack members, my mental barrier was bombarded with voices of all my animal friends. They must have been worried sick as well. I promise them I’ll be out in a little bit, but we have some human stuff we need to h
Rick P.O.V.“WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU MEAN SHE IS GONE?” Talyor shrugs while eyeing his father. Tywin has not said anything since I came in and sat down. They called me here early this morning. I was in the middle of fucking the brains out of my lover when the call came in, and I had to leave her unsatisfied. I promised to make it up to her. I know rumors about us are swirling around, but I must admit I don’t give a fuck. I will take whoever I want, whenever I want it! “Who exactly are you angry about, boy? The old bitch or the young pretty bitch?” Tywin asks, at last saying something. I sneer. “Both! But Maddie most.” I answer, looking between father and son. I have had Azlela held prisoner here for years without a hitch, and now suddenly she freed herself. If it was that easy, why didn’t she just do it earlier? “Well, I don’t blame you on the young one. She was a delicious piece of ass.” Tywin says, licking his lips. His eyes are shining with lust, and I have to contain myself so muc
Liam P.O.V.“Come on, Liam. We’re going dancing!” Maddie says, the smile on her face so adorable I can’t even do anything but follow her to the dance floor. “I’m not much of a dancer, baby.” I tell her, but she is absolutely not listening. She drags me to the middle of the grassy area where packmembers are dancing to their heart's content. Tonight has been wonderful so far. People have eaten, talked and laughed. They were surprised when we announced the last minute pack party, but everyone is having a great time. Maddie even made sure the guards who were going on night border patrol got some food before they were supposed to go. And she told the one’s coming from border patrol to go home and shower, and then come and eat if they felt like it. No one is forced to attend, which is the biggest deal for us - only those who want to be here are here. Adults and kids alike. “Luna! May I have this dance?” A boy asks, interrupting us. He looks at us shyly, blushing while his friends snicker
