I parked my car into Geri’s garage with a sigh. Seeing his car in, meant that he was around and I had to interact with him one way or the other. Being in a bad mood as I was right now, I didn’t want to talk to anyone, but he was my friend and I know that he would be worried if I tried to avoid him.

“Honey, I’m home,” I called out, dully.

“Fuck you, asshole,” Geri replied from the kitchen and my lips curled up into a smirk. Somehow, he knew how to make me feel better, even without doing much.

“What are you making?” I walked into the kitchen, tossing my keys over on the counter and peered into the pan, where something delicious was sizzling in. It looked like some hash browns and it made my stomach rumble.

“Back away, dickhead. I knew that you were going to come in hungry as fuck,” he muttered under his breath and I grinned. He was such a grumpy softie. It was endearing. He quietly asked me about my shift, while making a batch of salsa as well, to go with the tortilla chips that we
