DECLAN

I didn't feel comfortable anymore. It felt like something was wrong, even though I could not place my hands on exactly what it was. I could barely pay attention to what uncle Alioski was telling me.

"What is wrong?," he asked, surprised at my sudden change of countenance.

"I don't know what's wrong with me. I don't know why I feel so troubled."

"It's Kianna," he said. "I think Deforest knows where she is."

"Duncan! That idiot stabbed me!," I said, furious.

"You should have known better."

Quickly, I got up and walked towards the exit. I can't let Deforest get to her before I do. That will be too dangerous, for I'll be putting her life and mine more at risk.

"Wait!," he sharply said, halting my exit. "You've got to be careful. Remember, the alpha will not hesitate to pass a sword through you."

Without saying a word, I walked away. That wasn't the first time he had said that to me; I already knew what to expect. I raced away, hoping to get there before him. How
