Chapter 9

-------------

I decided to not go back to the office. Robbie and I had lunch then coffee and I asked him to stroll at the park near the coffee shop. It was late in the afternoon and the air was cool which was a nice time to amble.

He was so nice that he didn't force me to tell him about Trevor. He said that I could always tell him everything whenever I was ready. According to him, my being with him like this was more than enough for him. He was actually a nice guy but he was so persistent. His kind was a major turn off. I didn't like men who were willing to give me even the moon. I felt like I would be bored to death if I would be in a relationship with such a man. That was one of the reasons why I disliked Trevor years ago. My friends knew how unpleasant I found him so they dared me to make him my boyfriend and the rest was history. Thanks to them I was now in this mess with my ex.

"A penny for your thoughts?" Robbie joked as we started to walk to his car.

I smiled and sighed. It was time to tell him about my crazy ex.

"I apologize for what happened at the office. I am not sure if Alice told you..."

"About your ex Trevor Samaniego?" he asked with a smile which wasn't reaching his eyes.

We stopped in front of his car. He leaned his back against the vehicle and he extended his arm and hand to me. I raised mine and he gently pulled me nearer and asked me to lean on the car like him. I crossed my arms on my chest when we were side by side. Our eyes were on people walking at the park.

"He doesn't act like he is your ex," he commented with a dry tone.

I let out a light laugh. "Sorry about that. He had become more confident. He is doing that to annoy me. Don't put too much in it. He annoys me to get back at me somehow." I explained.

"I don't think that's the only reason. Just be more careful Chrissy. He seems to be dangerous. Alice's description of him years ago doesn't seem to fit him. He is the exact opposite from what I had witnessed."

I turned to look at him. His eyes were on me. They look sad and worried.

"I will be okay don't worry." I reassured him.

He smiled. " Alice has been telling me that you don't like men who are too persistent. I am sorry but I couldn't seem to stop pursuing you. I have been vocal on how much I want you to be my girl, Chrissy. Won't you give me a chance?" he asked and his voice was almost begging.

I really looked at him. Yes why not? He had a stable job and Alice said he was a responsible man. He was a good boyfriend material. I smiled at him.

"You seem to haven't stopped grinning." I teased .

Robbie was driving me home. We are near my apartment.

"Can you blame me?" he asked still beaming as he turned to me.

He took my hand and kissed it. I rolled my eyes at him and let out a grunt before I pulled back my hand but I was smiling.

He chuckled. "I apologize. I am just too happy." he said while his eyes sparkled.

With a sigh, I looked at the dashboard only to be really surprised.

Robbie's foot pushed a little too hard on the break so the tires made a screeching sound. In front of my apartment, Trevor was leaning on a white sports car which was heavily tinted.

He looked menacing as his arms were folded on his broad chest. He was in a gray t-shirt and his biceps were visible. He was looking at Robbie's car which he parked on the opposite side. My ex's eyes were really steely and he looked scary. It seemed like he was ready to attack us.

My hands turned clammy due to nervousness though I felt I didn't have any reason to be afraid of him.

"I will get off first, " Robbie told me while he stared at Trevor.

When he got out, I couldn't help swallowing a feeling of fear. I saw Trevor straightened and his arms went to his sides and he clenched his hands . He was glowering at Robbie, his jaw clenched.

I looked at Robbie as he went around the car to open the door for me while he and Trevor glared at each other.

He removed his stare at my ex for a second when he helped me get out of his car.

"Let's go." he said gently to me.

"Rob..." I could only utter his name since I didn't know what to say next.

The moment I was out, he took hold of my hand firmly for us to face Trevor but a look of horror crossed my face.

My ex's face was now red and he ordered through gritted teeth while advancing menacingly towards us," Get your hands off her!"

Everything happened so fast. Before Robbie or I could react, Trevor pulled me from him .

"Go there!!" he pointed to his left.

Due to shock and fear, I just moved to where he wanted me to be. My eyes were wide as I looked at him. Obviously he was raging. He looked murderous.

"What the f*ck is your problem?!" Robbie angrily asked and he was about to reach for me.

Trevor cursed loudly. "You are my problem!" he furiously shouted and smacked him on the face.
