Cold Shoulder

Eva’s POV

It was dinner time. Mark is already home. At first, he looked a little surprised to see me home, but it was just momentarily before his eyes turned dull and his expression colder.

He almost ignored me the whole dinner time and talked to Mom casually about his office day. I felt invisible in that situation. I was not a necessary part of there and was just there as an extra.

I was worried about seeing this, and now, watching them both smiling and talking, forgetting about me. I felt upset and could not concentrate any longer on eating.

“Mom, I’m done with eating. I’m going back to my room.” I stand from my seat.

“But sweetie, you almost did not touch your food. Are you feeling unwell anyway?” She looked at me worried, but I noticed Mark from the corner eyes; he just continued eating without raising his head at all. He all focused on his food. I felt annoyed, ‘No, Mom, I had pizza with Nish before returning. Sorry not to tell you.”

“It’s okay. If that’s the case, you can go
