Alpha Herveaux’s P.O.V

“Something just doesn’t seem right about this girl. Right from that night, up to this moment, we are meeting again.”

“What do you think, Tristan? Can you smell her?” I pressed myself against her small body to the wall.

“Stop!” She managed to say. Carefully, pushing me off from her.

“I want to flirt with you a little. Before we get down to business” I said to her, I knew I sounded cold and a little unruly.

My words put her out of place, making her snap back into reality. She adjusted her clothes. They fitted her perfectly even though it was a bit messy.

”Tala, wants you to be her nanny!” “I have been contemplating, should I take you by force or please you?” I said to her, drawing her closely into my arms. I noticed she had been avoiding eye-to-eye contact with me.

“My time is wasting, young woman. Do you want me to please you? Or take you by force?”

It looked like she was talking to someone before she could answer me. “I will think about it” she replied.

“Don’t annoy me. I don’t have such tolerance. Tala has go to school tomorrow morning. Someone must be here and that’s you!”

“I will spend the night here, I have to inform my uncle about everything” she replied, stuttering.

I had a very long day. Neither Herving nor Fernando was back from the assignments, I gave them. I needed to rest a while, before they arrived.

“Your Alpha will leave now! Stay away from everything” I said, forcing my lips on hers as a goodbye.

“Excuse me Sir!” She said, finding her balance as she raced after me on the stairs.

“This will be the last time you will address me wrongly!” I replied to her harshly.

“I’m sorry. I didn’t know what you were address3d as. Sir is a formal term and I thought it was courteous”. She replied, shy but bold.

“Learn Fast!” “What do you want?” I asked her in haste, leaving no room for any sense of pleasure.

Auriel was dumbfounded. She only stared at me and said nothing.

“Can I go home at least for today?” She said after I turned around to leave. “Did my face scare her?”

“NO! You get to leave when I tell you to”

I left the terrace. Sleeping is an impossible fantasy for me. The last time I slept was when Ashina was alive. I settled down to my studies. Examining Ashina’s murder case evidence.

I hated humans but Ashina’s death increased my hate for those people. “Why did she love them?” I just couldn’t understand.

Tristan started growling again, he had to get used to this routine of mourning Ashina every night. I swore not to rest until I uncovered the truth.

“I am a worthy Alpha!” I screamed, joining Tristan's loud growl.

I heard my door knob twitch and it opened. “Hello” “Is anyone here?” The person turned on the lights. Tristan was angered. He roared louder in a rage. My eyes were red and I could feel my anger takeover my body.

“How dare you?” I asked who it was. “It's me! Auriel” She answered, jittering with fear in her voice.

She was gasping for air. At first I thought she was just reacting to what she saw but it became serious, she fainted.

I carried her into my bed and covered her up. Her heart was beating. “Please don’t leave”, She said, holding my hands. She was still sleeping. “Stay with me”, She added, rustling her hands over mine.

Tristan wanted us to leave, but a part of me wanted to stay. She laid her head on my chest, sleeping peacefully.

“Beloved Alpha!” I knew the voice was Fernando’s.

I went out of the room to see him. Whatever he came to see me for, has to be confidential. My room was nowhere that would take place. Not when I have that woman in there.

“Speak !” I ordered him. “We discovered something new, Alpha!” Fernando said, rising to his feet.

“There is a rumor of an invader from the human world conniving with the lone wolves. I found their hiding place”

“At your command, we will attack them, Alpha!” Fernando said. “War! War! War!” I replied, pacing all over the place. Tristan was hungry, and so was I. “I will go with you!” I replied, Fernando knowing well he would be against it.

“NO! You cannot be seen fighting the lone wolves, Alpha Herveaux”, “Don’t go against me Fernando. I would go in disguise.” I had the perfect plan for-hand.

Changing my appearance was very easy. The moonlight was out. “You can still change your mind, Alpha!” Fernando tried convincing me. I wasn’t backing down. Not this time. I must see things myself.

“It might be hard, but I want you to see me as a friend tonight and not your Alpha”, I said to Fernando.

We arrived at Deserted Forest. It was far away from our home. “Why would anyone want to stay here in isolation?” I asked Fernando. “They are Lone wolves Alpha!” He answered, reminding me that they must be seen within any pack's territory.

We kept moving deeper into the forest. “I smell something so strong!” I said to my warriors alongside Fernando.

“This smell is distinctive. It’s too strong, how come only I could perceive it?” I asked them. “Could it be a trap?” Fernando asked groggily.

“I found them!”

The battle started. I was uninterested. That scent was on my mind. I followed its trail. “Herveaux!” a voice called out to me in the dark. “The dark is my domain! Show forth if you dare!” I thundered, tossing the trees around asunder.

“Promise to spare my life if I show up?” “I am the Alpha. I decide if you will be spared!”

The man appeared but the scent had disappeared. “I know who murdered Ashina” The boy said, shriveling with no peace.

“We are done, Beloved Alpha!” Fernando shouted. He wanted me to know he was leaving the forest. This was more important. “It's about Ashina.”

“Speak!” I ordered him. The man fell to the floor shaking violently like he was poisoned. I have seen this before. “Were my eyes playing a trick on me?”

“Stop!” I shouted, causing lightning and thunderstorms to strike. “You are blowing your cover, Alpha Herveaux”, Fernando warned sternly.

“Can I touch it?” She asked me. “If you dare!” I replied. I had shift shape and was in Tristan’s shape. “He’s so big and fluffy”, She said, rubbing her hands on my Wolf’s fur.

Tristan gave out a silent gentle growl. He wanted it to continue. She wasn’t leaving anytime soon. She sat down right beside me caressing the fur.

“Why aren’t you sleeping? Did the Alpha Kick you out?” She asked. I had forgotten she didn’t know it was me.

“Yes he did!” I answered her. “I know he is very cold and wicked. I met with him today.” She responded smiling, still running her fingers through my furs. “No, Alpha Herveaux is a good person just easily misunderstood.”

“What! is that blood on your hands!” She shouted. “Yes. Alpha Herveaux made me do that” I replied. “He makes you kill people?” She asked keenly.

“More than that!” I could tell she was scared. “What is your own name? Are you allowed to move only at night? She asked me. Her questions sounded strange. She was obviously above eighteen.

“Don’t you have a wolf?” I asked her. “Not yet. I’m Hybrid” She replied confidently. “Doesn’t matter, you might not be strong but you should have your wolf” I said to her.

Talking to her bored me but I was feeling sleepy. It was a win for me. “Tell me more about yourself”. I threw a bait.

She caught it. It felt like a sleeping pill as she talked. Trist and I slept.

Seconds, minutes and hours past by as she talked but her last question pricked me.

“The prophecy will be out soon. Do you think Alpha Herveaux will be given a new Luna, chosen by the goddess?” She asked me.
