Four: The Dungeon

Inez had never felt so relieved to see everyone leave the hall, even if it was under such uncertain circumstances. She felt like she had been holding her breath for far too long, and now that she could finally breathe, the air tasted sweeter than ever before. However, her relief was short-lived, as the three alphas were still staring at her, their expressions a mixture of confusion, disbelief, and anger.

She wanted to explain herself, but her mouth was starved of words. Her heart was pounding in my chest, and her hands were trembling with fear. She had to keep her cool and play it safe, at least for the time being.

Now, they stayed in the room with only the seer, all feeling unsettled by the message she had delivered. Alpha Lance took a deep breath and turned to her, trying to keep his voice steady.

"What do you mean, Inez is the one I am destined to mate with and also, share with the two Alphas? I already have a fiancée that I want to marry, moreover, I can’t marry an omega.” Alpha Lance exclaimed.

The seer looked at him with her calm and serene eyes. "Destiny is not always kind, Alpha Lance. But it is still destiny. The spirits have spoken, and I am only their messenger. I cannot change the message."

Alpha Lance paced back and forth, his thoughts in turmoil. "There must be something we can do. Is there a way to change my destiny?"

The seer shook her head. "I'm afraid not. Destiny is not something that can be changed. You can try to fight it, but in the end, it will always win."

Alpha Lance clenched his fists, frustration and anger building up inside him. "This is unfair. How can I be forced into a marriage I don't want? What about my feelings?"

The seer placed a comforting hand on his shoulder. "I understand your pain, Alpha Lance. But sometimes, we must accept what we cannot change. It is your duty as the alpha to ensure the safety and prosperity of your pack, and sometimes that means making sacrifices."

Alpha Lance stopped pacing and looked at her. "What sacrifices? What can I do?"

“Calm down Lance. I am sure that there is a reason for everything that is happening.” Alpha Liam tried to comfort.

The seer paused for a moment, thinking. "You can try to negotiate with Inez, try to find common ground. Perhaps if you get to know her, you will find that you have more in common than you think."

Alpha Lance shook his head. "That's impossible. She is from an outcast. We don’t even know the pack she is from."

Alpha Liam shocked his head, disgusted that Alpha Lance was actually trying to make it a big deal. It isn’t about what she is but what she holds within.

The seer gave the three Alphas a small smile. "Sometimes, the greatest love stories come from the most unlikely of places. It is up to you to decide if you are willing to take that chance."

Alpha Lance sighed, feeling defeated. "I don't know if I can do this. It's too much to ask of me."

The seer gave him a stern look. "You are the alpha, Lance. You have a duty to your pack. You must put their needs before your own."

Lance nodded, knowing she was right. "I will try to find a solution, but I don't know if I can marry her. It goes against everything I believe in."

The seer gave him a sad smile. "I understand, Lance and I am not saying you should marry her, remember she is to pick one and it doesn’t even have to you. But sometimes, we must do things we don't want to do. It is the burden of leadership."

Lance walked her to the door, feeling lost and alone. "Maybe there is another way to do this. Maybe we can sort this out."

The seer turned to him, her eyes filled with compassion. "Remember, Lance, the spirits are always watching. They will guide you if you let them. I have delivered my message and there is nothing else you can do other than doing what is required of you."

With those words, she left, leaving Alpha Lance alone with his thoughts. He knew he had a difficult decision to make, one that could change the course of his life and his pack's future forever.

Alpha Lance stood there, staring at the spot where the seer had been. His heart was heavy, and his mind was in turmoil. He had never believed in prophecies of doom before, but now, faced with the words of the seer, he was forced to confront a reality that he had never imagined. There was something about the way she said it that made him shudder as though he would wither.

He had always been content with his life, living in the pack. He had been a good leader to the pack members and also, those nearby. He had worked hard to protect his people from harm. But now, everything has changed. Out of the blues he had been told that an omega is going to be his true soulmate, and he was supposed to share her with

"Fuck!" He yelled, his hands slicing through the air as if he was venting his spleen on it.

“You will hurt yourself.” Alpha Phineas finally chirped in. He was tired of seeing how Alpha Lance was trying to make it a big deal when they could all take turns and get to know the girl.

Alpha Lance couldn't accept it. He loved his single life, he loved how he would have different girls moving in and out of his room. He couldn't imagine living his life with a mere omega. He paced back and forth, trying to think of a way out of this situation, but he knew that there was no escape.

He was boiling, seething with rage. His jaw was clenched, and his eyes were blazing as he glared at Inez. The seer's words had hit him like a ton of bricks, and he was struggling to keep his emotions in check.

"You did this!" he bellowed, pointing a finger accusingly at Inez. "You and your cursed prophecies! You knew this was going to happen, and you did nothing to stop it!"

Inez tried to defend herself, but the words stuck in her throat. She had no idea what the Alpha was talking about, and his anger was scaring her. "I swear, I had no idea-" she began, but Alpha Lance cut her off.

"Silence!" he roared. "You have caused enough trouble already. You are coming with me."

He turned to his guards, who were standing nearby, and ordered them to arrest Inez. They moved quickly, surrounding her and seizing her by the arms. Inez struggled, but the guards were too strong. They dragged her away from the hall room, ignoring her cries for mercy.

Inez, on the other hand, was terrified. She had never been to the dungeon before, and the thought of being locked up in a dark, damp cell sent shivers down her spine. She had always been a loyal servant around the pack and the pack house, and she had never done anything to warrant such harsh treatment.

As she was led down the dark, musty corridor, she prayed for a miracle. She knew that Alpha Lance was a stern ruler, but she had never seen him so angry before. She had no idea what she had done to the moon goddess to incur her wrath.

Inez could feel the cold stone floor of the dungeon beneath her as the guards threw her into a cell. She hit the ground hard, her head spinning from the impact. She looked up, tears streaming down her face, and saw the guards locking the door behind them.

The cell was small and cramped, and Inez could barely stand up. She could hear rats scurrying in the corners, and the air was thick with the smell of damp and mold. She sat down on the cold, hard ground, trying to hold back her tears.

"Please, Alpha Lance," she begged, her voice hoarse with emotion. "I didn't do anything wrong. I swear it."

Lance did not respond. He turned and walked away, leaving Inez alone in the dark. She could hear his footsteps echoing down the corridor, and she knew that he was not coming back.

Inez curled up into a ball on the floor, her body racked with sobs. She had always known that her gift was a curse, but she had never imagined that it would bring her to this. She was alone, scared, and at the mercy of a man who seemed determined to destroy her.

As the hours passed, Inez lay on the cold stone floor, her mind racing with fear and confusion. She tried to remember what the seer had told her, but her thoughts were scattered and disjointed. She knew that she needed to escape, but she had no idea how.

Meanwhile, Alpha Lance was struggling to come to terms with the situation. He knew that he had to make a decision, but he didn't know what to do. He couldn't ignore the words of the seer. He knew that his duty to the kingdom was paramount, but he couldn't bring himself to make his life miserable, not now, not anytime soon, never.

Alpha Lance turned and growled at the two guards that stood ahead of him, his eyes blazing with anger. The men took two steps back, their faces showing fear as they realized the extent of the Alpha's rage.

Lance's growl echoed in the hallway, causing the torches on the walls to flicker. His dominance was palpable, and even the guards standing by the doorway seemed to shrink back in his presence.

With one final snarl, Lance turned on his heel and strode away, leaving the men to pick up their fallen comrade and follow in his wake.
