Chapter 2

Elle groaned and slowly opened her eyes ,her whole body aches, fear crept into her mind and she thought she also fell into the ditch, she stood up and started looking around frantically when a tiny voice spoke from behind her.

"Are you okay?" A tiny voice asked, Elle turned around sharply and saw a very tiny creature with wings hovering around her

"Am I being delusional right now?" She asked herself as she scanned her environment, she noted that the place she is in isn't the camp forest; it's an empty land with few trees and flowers in sight.

"No you aren't being delusional, I'm a fairy" the little creature said, Elle chuckled at that; to her faires are just a myth it isn't possible for them to exist, she looked up to talk to her hallucination as she thought, but Instead she met not just one but many of them staring back at her and she yelped.

"You aren't delusional and we aren't a myth, this is my fairy family, we have been waiting for you" Daisy, the first fairy told her

"You've been waiting for me? Why? How do you even know me?" She asked warily, her eyes wandering from one fairy to the other, taking notes how different they look from each other

"That's not for us to tell, we can tell you about us while we take you to the person that'll tell you everything" another fairy told her.

"Umm no, I'm not going anywhere with you guys" She said shaking her head and stood up

"We aren't going to hurt you" one of the faires said gently and the others nodded in agreement.

Elle just scoffed at the fairy "and why should I  believe that?" She asked, trying to find an exit or a familiar route.

"Well you are in an unfamiliar environment and we haven't done anything to you yet, and if we wanted to hurt you we could have done that while you were passed out" Aurora, one the faires explained calmly. Elle's face fell as she realised they were right, and frankly speaking even if they plan on hurting her she can't do anything about it.

The little fairy, Daisy chuckled at the human creature they've been waiting for, she seems so clueless and fragile and she was beginning to doubt if she can carry out the task, letting go of her perfect human life and going into that of chaos. Well if she's the one that they selected then she can do it she thought.

"Do you wanna know more about us as we go" Aurora asked, jumping at Elle's face, the poor girl halted in fright, but she relaxed and nodded stiffly with a small smile on her face

"We are a group of faires and unlike the stories I'm sure you've been told, we aren't a bunch of tiny people with magical powers,. wait! we actually do have abilities but not for granting wishes I mean most of us do grant wishes but...." One of the faires, Lily, rambled, she just couldn't hold in her excitement of finally meeting the one.

Elle and the other faires burst into laughter and Elle muttered something along the line of "cute".

"What Lily here means is that the stories you've been told in the human realm is just about a particular group of faires and not all" this time the fairy that spoke isn't as tiny as the rest.

Elle nodded her head, "you said something about realms" she started, looking at the faires questionably "so you mean that something other than the humans and the human realm exists?" she asked

"The fact that you are standing in a different place from your camp and you are talking to faires should give you your answer" Daisy replied her

"So which realm am I in?, A spirit realm?"  She asked with wide eyes "does that mean I'm dead?" she voiced out shakily.

The faires chuckled, "no you aren't dead, and yes it's kind of like a spirit realm. We aren't going to tell you much but be patient, we are almost close to the person that will" Elle nodded in understanding and they all started moving in silence.

"We can tell you fairy stories tho" Lily bursted out randomly and they all burst into laughter

"There's no need for that I'll tell her everything myself" They looked up and saw a huge but old tree staring down at them, the faires gave it a familiar and grateful smile but Elle looks like she's a second away from collapsing.

"Are you okay?" the tree asked her, She stared at the talking tree for some moments before she immediately burst into laughter

"OMG what kind of funny dream is this? First my friend falls into a ditch, I get trapped in a realm, met "faires" and now a tree is talking to me?" She said to herself, shaking her head and letting out little laughs.

"It isn't a dream, I'll tell you everything. Faires you are free to go, thank you for bringing her" the old tree thanked them and the faires all smiled at her and went off

"Come with me Elle I'll tell you everything you need to know" the tree gestured to her with a warm smile

"Nope, not happening" Elle said, shaking her head "wait a second! How do you know my name? And two, no offence but how on Earth are you going to walk? You are a tree!" Elle said horrified at the horrible but funny dream she believes she's trapped in.

"If you come with me you'll know" Mamock; the tree, said in a flat tone and Elle weighed her options for a while before she sighed and followed the tree. Not long after they set off, they stopped in front of a lake, a very beautiful crystal clear lake, that the moment you look into it, it's as if the beauty of nature come alive in it.

"Take a drink from it" Mamock said gesturing to the lake, Elle looked at her then at the lake and back at her.

"Why should I drink water from a place as strange as this? what if I turn into a tree or a bird or I get absorbed or..."

"Nothing will happen to you" Mamock cut off her rambling, Elle looked at her for some seconds before bending down and scooping some water into her palm and drinking it and was grateful she remained the same after drinking it. She quickly scooped some more into her mouth and she felt her energy coming back to her, she didn't notice it but damn she was exhausted.

"Now that you've regained your energy, sit down and listen I'll tell you everything you need to know" Elle nodded and sat down

"For starters, you are still on Earth but in a different realm. A realm that no one in the human realm really knows about.  This realm and most of the creatures in it are as old as the first human to exist, it's called the guardian realm because it exists to guard and protect the world, especially humans, yes! Humans" the tree said, and Elle looked at her skeptically

"is she reassuring me or herself?" Elle muttered to herself, but continued listening to her story regardless.

"This realm contains a lot of power that humans shouldn't posses and if it should get out to the human realm it will be very disastrous" she paused and looked at Elle and she's pretty engrossed in the story she's being told

"There are a lot of creatures here and all of them are here for the safety of humans and their own safety. And what I mean when I say that is that, some of us here have powers that can hurt humans terrible, while some that are here, are here to protect themselves from the greed of humans." Elle looked at her with confusion

She gave her a tree like smile "Some of the creatures here have powers that can hurt humans in a very bad way like the werewolves, halflings, foxes, mermaids, goblins and va.." she immediately shut her mouth, but continued after a moment "while some are here because if they move over to the human realm, you humans will make sure they go extinct."

"So you mean to tell me, something like this has been existing" Elle asked and the tree nodded

"There's still a lot about this realm, but you'll learn about them with time. I'm sure this gave you the needed insight" Elle nodded in agreement

"Yes, it did but why did you stop at the pronunciation of vampires" the tree frowned at the pronunciation of their name

"That's because they were in here like the rest of us but they got greedy and jealous of humans, they questioned their fate and got angry at the fact that they have to be locked in, in order to protect a bunch of cowards and ungrateful beings as they said. So they left, disobeyed the laws and teamed up with another against the rule"

"Wow..just wow' Elle breathed out amazed at the whole story even tho a part of her doesn't believe it, "you said humans aren't meant to know about this realm then why are you telling me about it? Last I checked I'm human"

"Yes, you are human. But we are in danger and so is the human realm and, you are the one that's meant to help" Mamock said with a straight face and Elle burst out laughing

"That's so funny, it's as if I'm in a movie right now. But hold on,  if you are all so powerful why do you need a mere human to save you?" She questioned the tree.

"We indeed are superior to humans but we are incapable of somethings, we have someone that would have helped but he's asleep and he isn't waking up anytime soon you are our only hope Elle" Mamock said desperately.

"Why is he asleep at such a critical moment? When he knows he's the one to save earth" she asked in a tone that clearly states that she's not buying her story.

" He isn't asleep by choice, he's trapped we need someone to wake him up and possibly fight beside him. He got trapped after the last battle a hundred years ago and the only one to wake him is the one born with the life force that trapped him Elle and you are the one"

"Life force? Trapped?, Be clear please"

" Hundred and fifty years ago, someone was born;a person with the life force of this realm and the human realm in order to always maintain balance, but he got greedy and tried taking everything for himself." Mamock started, a distant look on her face as she reminiscised on the painful memories "He fought him and the only way to put and end to him without killing him is to sap out the life force and, the life force isn't just given to anyone so it trapped him in between life and death, an eternal sleep to be broken only by the next person to be born with the life force" the tree explained and Elle nodded in understanding

"And I'm the person?"

"Yes"

"So all I have to do is figure out a way to wake him up and I'm done?"

"No, you are to fight beside him because your predecessor is still alive in the human world, using one of us to achieve his goal and you are closer to him than you think"

"This just keeps getting more and more confusing, I'm to wake him up and fight beside him which means I have to stay here as well and learn how to fight too while waking him up?" She questioned getting more and more confused

" To make it clear for you, you have three roles. Wake him up, learn everything you need to and put an end to all this with him"

Elle scoffed at that "what kind of a suicide mission is that? Assuming all this craziness is true who is the person I am meant to wake up? And why is this realm only located in one part of the world?" She questioned her again.

"You have to wake up the Alphavulpes, a nine tailed fox wolf  and this realm isn't located in one part of the world, It extends to other countries but if we are captured the others are good as gone"

"Why not join forces with the others?

"This is the realm the wolf-fox king lives in, and if we seek help from the other realms they'll feel hopeless" the tree explained, and Elle sighed in weakness and confusion

"All these information is making my head spin, I don't want any of these I just want to go back to my life please" she said tiredly, all the information making her dizzy.

"Go to sleep Elle, it's already late we'll talk tomorrow"Mamock whispered, her heart breaking for the little girl but she can't do anything, the world lies on her shoulders.

Elle nodded and laid besides the lake, she slowly closed her eyes letting the tiredness take over but she is sure she heard the tree whisper "I hope you accept your fate little one" but she just hopes this is all a dream.
