Verania's Point of View

My jaw dropped when I heard what Ares had just whispered to me. Seriously?

I tried to regain my composure as he moved away from me, winking before entering his house, leaving me outside with Alder. I quickly returned my face to its normal state before fully facing Alder.

"Hehe, please don't pay attention to that," I said, scratching my head while looking at Alder, who arched an eyebrow.

"Oh, what did he say?" he asked, making me smile awkwardly while a strange kind of nervousness slowly crept into my chest.

"He just said goodbye and that he's going inside, that's all. I don't really know why he had to whisper it, though."

"Uh-huh, okay. But you know what, Vera?" he continued, prompting me to look at him.

"What?"

"Ares seems a bit different. His actions are somewhat unusual. I don't know if I'm the only one noticing this, but every time I visit you, he seems annoyed," he said casually, making me chuckle nervously.

"Looks like he's jealous or something?" I added,
