Natasha quickly walked away the moment Clyde, her dear love, was about to look in her direction. She was ashamed that he'd feel disgusted at the sight of her dirty face. She went to the back of their house before immediately rushing to the bathroom to take a bath once more, and made sure to clean off the traces of cow manure in her face including its nasty smell. Meanwhile, she soaked the handkerchief of the guy in a pool of water filled with soap. She couldn't even stop smiling while she was placing it in a small basin, keeping in mind that she'd take care of it later, and finish it off clean with a fabric conditioner.
She went out of the bathroom the moment she finished. She was still wearing a long dress that fell down to the heels of her feet. She didn't bother combing her long, curly hair because she'd waste more time if she did so.
She gathered herself to go inside the room with her newly-bathed look where her grandmother would entertain customers. She was gentle when she opened the door before peeking inside as she knew that her grandmother would only scold her if she ever went in there while there were customers. The first thing that she saw was the old woman whose back was facing in her direction.
"What should I do to keep the success of my company and business going?" she heard the old woman ask her grandmother who was sitting inside the usual set-up that she used.
In front of her were her small ball of crystal and a deck of cards that were scattered all around the table. Her grandmother stared at the ball of crystal for a period of time before answering the question.
"Don't be worried. I can see that there will be no problem that your company and businesses will face. Just make sure that you won't forget to place fruits in your altar every night alongside gold furniture, curtains, or anything with the color that would meet your eyes first the moment you enter the house," her grandmother answered.
"Thank you so much. I will do everything that you advise. My friend recommended you to me. She said that everything that you say does come true. I will come back here every month. I hope that this will serve its purpose greatly," the old woman was smiling as she said that before handing a thick envelope to her grandmother.
Her grandmother smiled a little before placing the envelope beside her.
"It's time for me to go now as it's still a long way back home. Here, take my calling card. Text me your contact information so that I can call you immediately whenever I am in need of your service." The old woman stood up before handing a small card to her grandmother.
Her grandmother received it before standing. Natasha quickly closed the door, and immediately walked away from there before they'd see her eavesdropping on their conversation. She also decided to go immediately so that she could get a glimpse of Clyde before they parted their ways.
The twins looked at her both at the same time when they left the room. She saw that the two stared at her face before the twin, who seemed to enjoy annoying her, suddenly chortled.
"I see that you've already taken a bath, but it looks as if you haven't heard of combs. Wow! Your hair is so long. Here, that's all yours." He even stared at her messy hair that didn't want to cooperate with her face. He also handed a comb that he took from his pocket.
Her eyes widened as she remembered that it was true she didn't bother combing her hair. She'd even look like a witch whenever she wouldn't tie her hair! He was already in front of her while there was still a huge smile plastered across his face before he handed her the comb.
She immediately gave him a sullen glance and didn't get the comb from him.
The door opened once again, and her grandmother went out together with the grandmother of the twins. Both of them were still talking. She shifted her gaze towards the two old women before walking away from the doorway. She was stunned when the guy grabbed her hand before putting the comb on her palm. She couldn't help but stare at it. She was supposed to give the comb back and give him an attitude, but he had already started walking away from her.
"We'll be heading now. Thank you, once again," said their grandmother to hers.
Her grandmother just smiled a little before nodding. The twins' grandmother called the both of them to tell them to gather themselves as they would be leaving already. Natasha took a glimpse at her crush, completely forgetting the comb that was still resting at her grip.
He didn't bother looking back at her, and of a sudden, his twin brother jumped in front of her, blocking her view of Clyde. The other had a huge smile on his face as he stared at her. He seemed to enjoy annoying her.
"Don't worry, I will make sure my twin will remember you always because I'll make him remember you every single day," he teased.
She just gave him a sullen look in annoyance before she raised her fist as a sign of warning. He just laughed in an utterly annoying manner before walking away from her.
She was trying so hard to get a glimpse at Clyde once more, stretching her neck like a giraffe, before the guy went inside the car. The annoyance that was plastered across her face immediately went away the moment she was able to stare at his side angle once more as he was waiting to get inside the car.
Her grandmother and she followed the car using their eyes before it disappeared as quickly as it appeared.
"Grandma, I think I'm in love!" she said in a dreamy manner as she continued staring at the horizon, the car nowhere in sight.
She jumped in surprise when she felt her grandmother pinch her side.
"Ouch!" she winced before rubbing her side gently as she stepped away from the old woman.
"You better get yourself together! You're still too young, for God's sake. Only when you're finally done with your schooling should you tell me that, and I'll support you to the best of my abilities," she said with a stern look on her face.
Even when she was still feeling the pain of her pinch on her side, she still couldn't help but plaster a smile upon hearing what she said. "Really, Grandma? Oh my God! I'm very sure that I'll be Mrs. Del Espania in the future. Thank you, Grandma. I promise I'll finish school, and graduate with grace." She hugged her grandmother, tears almost falling down her cheeks in pure bliss.
"Heh! Will you stop it!? You are well aware that what I say to my customers is made-up nonsense. What I meant by that is if you really need to entrap that guy that you like, I'll support you and help you think about ways to do so." She even spanked her arm lightly.
She didn't stop hugging the old woman even after that as she believed in the capabilities of her grandmother, thinking that she'd be successful in bewitching anyone with the help of the rituals and spells of the old woman. She witnessed those circumstances wherein girls would go back with the men that they only enchanted with love potions. She knew that her grandmother had a book solely for this kind of matter.
Her eyes were closed and she was smiling as she was imagining the face of the guy that she adored. However, like what usually happened, the annoying face of the other twin came into mind, ruining her perfect imagination.
She immediately let go of her embrace before immediately slapping her cheeks repeatedly to push the memory of that guy off her mind. Even in her imagination, he couldn't leave her alone!
Her grandmother was staring at her with curiosity plastered across her face. That was why she was left with no choice but to stop and smile at her instead.
"Ahm, I just remembered someone annoying," she explained shortly.
Since then, she had been anticipating the return of the twins' grandmother, hoping that when she would do so, she'd bring one of the twins with her—and it would be no other than Clyde. She even barely went to the town whenever Saturdays and Sundays came as she would be found sitting in their veranda instead, spending almost all of the time in her day there. However, she just had been left with the feeling of disappointment because days had passed and she heard no news of the old woman going back to visit. It had been almost a month, a hopeful month, since she first met Clyde. It was Saturday once again. Every weekend, her anticipation and hope would grow, as it was the time when she'd think about him more. Her grandmother commanded her to go to the town to fetch some things that
Natasha was already in her third year in College with her Education course. Although that wasn't really her dream course, she had barely any choices because the courses offered in her school were only limited. Even if she wanted to continue her education in Manila, she knew that she couldn't afford the expenses that she'd be facing there. She was lying on her bed, staring at the only picture of Clyde that was pinned against her wall. She cut that picture off a magazine that she saw in town. When she saw that, she couldn't even contain her feelings, and bought a copy immediately. Beside him was a picture of her more annoying twin and their grandmother.Of course, it was only Clyde's picture that she posted on the wall of her room. Years had already passed since he last saw the twins. It wasn't like she cared for his other twin, but every
She had no choice, but to wait for the concert to end. Even when she didn't want to admit to herself, she was truly enjoying being there and listening to the voice of Clyde's twin. The last song that they performed was dedicated to a girl whose name wasn't disclosed. The song wasn't the same as the usual kind of songs that they performed throughout the night. It made everyone go silent, attention fixed at the band performing in front, and just absorbing the last song of the night.I don't knowWhat you're doing to meYour sweet smile is whatI'd like to see
She was finally able to graduate with her degree in Education. Her grandmother wanted her to review so she could finally be an educator, but Natasha didn’t really have plans on teaching. What she wanted to do was to apply for work just so she could save up some money that would take her to Manila, closer to Clyde. After all those years, after everything that had happened, she still hadn’t let go of her dream of becoming Mrs. del Espania even when she hadn’t really seen the guy again. Meanwhile, the twins’ grandmother rarely went back there as the old woman became even busier because of the ever-growing success of their modeling agency that was popularly known as Dynasty Agency. She would see her on the television a lot of times, including Clyde, which was the reason why her feelings towards the guy never really went away. She also found out the career of his twin brother, Kyle, has been a growing success. She wasn’t able to go to the concert of his band as she gave t
Even when her aunt was confused with her sudden resignation, she still agreed for her to do so when she said that she would already be working in Manila. She was surprised but had no choice but to be happy for her. When the night came, she talked to her grandmother. They just finished eating by then, and they were currently sitting, watching a show on the TV. It was because the old woman no longer accepts customers beyond five in the afternoon.“Grandma?" she started."Hmmm?" the old woman answered, her eyes were still fixed on the TV. She seemed passionate about watching as the show that was airing was her favorite telenovela.Natasha swallowed the lump on her throat before opening her mouth to say something again.“I-I’ll be going to Manila this Monday.”"Will you stroll with Shirley there?” she asked with no hesitation as her eyes never left the TV.It was almost a five-hour trip from their place to Ma
It was only three in the morning, but she was already up to start preparing for the day. There was an uncontrollable feeling in her chest that she couldn’t stop feeling even when she told herself to. Manila was still a five-hour ride away, and that was already the day that she had been looking forward to.Natasha jerked awake, and immediately went to the bathroom to take a shower. She didn’t mind even when the water was utterly cold. After showering, she changed into the clothes that she prepared for herself. She wore a yellow blouse that had a pair of long sleeves. It was also her first time wearing a skirt that didn’t go beyond her knees, making her decide to wear black stockings as she didn’t feel that comfortable with the length of her skirt as if it was too short for her own liking. She just wasn’t used to it. Her shoes, on the other hand, were flat and were red in color. She also put her long, curly hair into a bun to keep herself from look
She quickly followed the guy, the cup of coffee was still in her hands. She even burnt herself in the process as she really did just follow him without really giving it a second thought. Even before the elevator door closed, she was able to stop it from closing.“Oops! Sorry about that.” The guy quickly pressed the button of the elevator in order to stop it from closing, but it was already too late as she was already in between the two closing doors of the elevator itself. She was quick to get inside before fixing her bag on her shoulders, and the cup of coffee that she was still holding."T-thank you," she muttered before smiling at him when she finally stepped inside the elevator. They were the only ones inside the elevator that really made Natasha’s heart beat hard against her chest."What floor?" the guy asked."H-huh?" She couldn’t help but be confused about the question that he just asked."Which fl
Her smile still hadn’t faded away even when she was already inside the elevator, and was already heading down. She finished every last droplet of the coffee from the paper cup and even kissed the cup itself. She had no plans on throwing the cup in the trash bin. Why would she? The ghost of Clyde’s lips was still there. She could no longer count how many times she kissed the paper cup before the elevator door opened. When the door opened, she was face to face with a man who probably saw her kissing the cup as confusion was evident in his countenance. Two of his companions even stared at her as well. The timing wasn’t really on her side as when the door opened, she was still kissing the cup, and who knew how strange she could’ve looked for doing so even when she was quick to stop what she was doing. She was already on the ground floor.Shit! It was Clyde who saw her doing that strange thing!Wait! But Clyde was upstairs, right? Why w
