Her smile still hadn’t faded away even when she was already inside the elevator, and was already heading down. She finished every last droplet of the coffee from the paper cup and even kissed the cup itself. She had no plans on throwing the cup in the trash bin. Why would she? The ghost of Clyde’s lips was still there.
She could no longer count how many times she kissed the paper cup before the elevator door opened. When the door opened, she was face to face with a man who probably saw her kissing the cup as confusion was evident in his countenance. Two of his companions even stared at her as well. The timing wasn’t really on her side as when the door opened, she was still kissing the cup, and who knew how strange she could’ve looked for doing so even when she was quick to stop what she was doing. She was already on the ground floor.
Shit! It was Clyde who saw her doing that strange thing!
Wait!
But Clyde was upstairs, right? Why was he suddenly on the ground floor? How was he able to go down even before she did? And when she looked at his clothes, she saw that he was wearing a white coat instead of the black coat that he was wearing just a few minutes ago.
She looked at the guy standing in front of her with curiosity plastered across her face. She still hadn’t stepped out of the elevator when the three of them stepped inside. She still stared at the guy, confused.
"Won't you go out, Miss?" one of his companions who was an old man asked her. As he was pushing the button of the elevator.
She blinked at him in a consecutive manner, and she was on the way, standing in the doorway itself. The curiosity in their eyes as they stared at her intensified.
"Yes?” asked Clyde.
Wait... was that really Clyde or was she just being deceived by her own eyes?
She was about to ask him when his other companion, who was only about the same age as Clyde, opened his mouth to talk.
"Clyde, Kyle is in the conference room already. Zara just called," the guy said before giving her another look.
It was Kyle who was up there?! Disbelief was plastered right across her face when she looked at the person who just talked.
"Miss, we are in a hurry. Are you going up again or what?” his companion asked when she still hadn’t moved from her position.
"Oh, sorry sorry," she hastily said before stepping outside of the elevator completely. Her eyes and Clyde’s met before the door of the elevator closed. The expression on his face was blank.
She still hadn’t moved from where she was standing even before the elevator door had already closed as her mind was still processing everything that just happened.
How did it happen that the guy that she talked to a while ago was Kyle? What she remembered was that the guy had long hair like what she could see on TV. The guy that she saw a while ago didn’t have long hair nor did he have piercings in his ear. He was even wearing formal attire!
She still felt out of her mind when she was walking in the direction of the applicants that were still waiting. She put the cup inside her bag without really thinking. She hadn’t noticed that she was already standing in front of the girl who insulted her a while ago.
"Are you looking for the exit door, Miss? It’s just in front, look! Quick, and you’ll be late for your interview at the other building.” Annoyance was still evident from her voice as she pointed at the exit of the building.
The people who heard what she said laughed, and that was when Natasha finally got her footing back.
The girl seemed to enjoy shaming her so much! She was even the one who looked like a skeleton, and someone who hadn’t eaten for days. Was she the definition of being pretty? She thought of that as she stared at the girl in front of her.
“Do you really want to ruin my day, Miss?” She stopped calling the other applicants and faced her completely.
She gave her a sweet smile before raising her resume in front of her face. It was the same resume that Kyle signed. There was also a big “HIRED” that was written on it alongside his signature. He also indicated the position that she was accepted to, and the monthly salary that she’d be getting.
"Well, I'm hired!" she proudly said before looking back at the other applicants who still chortled a laugh.
It seemed as if they did not believe her. The girl in front of her, on the other hand, just glared at her and didn’t even look at the resume that she was holding.
“Well, you’re Bridgette, right? Well, Mr. Kyle del Espania said that I should give this to you so that you could make a job offer and a contract that I can sign. If you don’t believe me, then you should ask him yourself. But he’s busy because of his meeting on the tenth floor,” she said, still flashing the playful smile on her face.
The girl took the resume from her to read what was written there. She saw how her eyes widened because of disbelief. She didn’t say anything and just stared at her from head to toe once again.
"Yes? Do you want me to call Mr. del Espania for you?” she warned her, still standing there.
The girl gathered a deep breath before speaking.
"Please sit down first, Miss Policarpio. I will call you once your contract is ready,” she said as if she was being forced.
"Thank you," she said with a huge smile before turning to face the other applicants who were listening to their conversation.
She held her resume up as if slapping it to their faces, before pointing at the word “HIRED” that was written in there.
"Yep, I'm hired. Congratulations to me!" Their eyes followed her finger that was pointing at the paper that she was holding. She didn’t even hesitate to do that, especially when she remembered how they shamed her.
She walked in their direction slowly before sitting on an empty chair. While the other applicants continued staring at her.
Oh yes, what about all of you? She wanted to tell them as her smile was still plastered on her face. She opened her bag to get her cellphone so that she could call her grandmother and Shirley already, and tell them about the good news.
She was quick to cover her mouth when she saw the paper cup that was inside her bag.
So it was Kyle who she had an indirect kiss with because of that cup! She quickly grimaced because of it. She was even very excited because she thought that it was Clyde. There were even traces of coffee inside her bag, and now the content of it looked even messier because of it! Her earphones were even wet. She took the paper cup and threw it in the bin. She no longer had any plans on keeping it as it was Kyle instead of Clyde. It was that guy’s lips instead of her love’s!
Why did she always mistake Kyle as Clyde?
Of course, they are twins, right? That was what her mind told her.
Aargh! But even so, she still thanked the guy before. If it weren’t for him, she would go back home with tears on her face. She just thought of thinking that Kyle would be the bridge for her to reach Clyde, and he’d be hers finally.
She even felt like trembling because of the giddiness that she was feeling. The love of her life was still drop-dead gorgeous, although he was still the usual Clyde who didn’t talk a lot, unlike his twin brother. She didn’t even see him smile a while ago. He was still serious just like before, and that was probably the reason why she fell for him as he was the opposite of Kyle. When she saw Kyle for the first time, she already thought of him to be someone who had no clear direction in life, unlike Clyde who seemed to have his life sorted out already.
That was when she remembered the beautiful girl that he was talking with back at the concert. But she thought that she already broke up with him because she wasn’t like his twin brother? Where could Claire be? She would never forget that name because she remembered how she felt the pain and sadness in Kyle’s voice when he mentioned her name before she went away completely.
Well...
She thought that the guy had already moved on from that girl as she could see that there were a lot of women who were linked to him whenever the news talked about the band.
Oh yes, why was the guy there? And why did he cut his hair?
Did he leave his band completely?
She tilted her head.
Hmmp, what about it? I don’t care about him!
The person with who she was willing to spend her time was Clyde, especially when she was already so near to him. She swore to herself before that she would do anything just for him to love her back.
Clyde, I hope you’re ready for the bewitchment from Tasyang who is so in love with you.
She could even laugh out loud because of what she was thinking, but she chose not to.
You’re mine, Clyde. I’ll be Mrs. Natasha Del Espania. Carve that on a stone!
Just as her grandmother told her, she slept in the house of their relative who was living in Manila before she went back home the morning after. The moment she stepped inside the house, she immediately told her grandmother about the good news. The old woman was happy, but she still couldn’t help but be worried as it would be the first time that she’d be far from her for a long time, but she chose to strengthen her guts because she was already adamant with her decision. She also told Shirley that she was accepted in Clyde’s company. Her friend was also happy for her.Her work would start on Monday already. Luckily, there was a room that she could rent that Joy had found for her since it would be too troublesome if she’d stay in her relative’s house as it was far from where she would be working. She was even having a hard time picking out clothes in the thrift store that she could wear in the office. She knew that it wouldn’t be
It had already been an hour since she started staring absentmindedly at her phone because he couldn’t find the address of the company’s owner. It wasn’t mentioned in the interviews, of course. She had been scratching her head because of the frustration that she was feeling that only made her curly hair even messier. She got her phone, hoping that the address of the house of Clyde’s grandmother would miraculously appear on a search engine, but of course, it wasn’t online. When she searched on her social media account, looking for her name, the only thing that she saw was the page of the company, and what was the company all about. She was already feeling the strong urge to call her boss, Zara, but she was afraid that she’d scold her more. She didn’t even bother searching for Clyde because she knew that the guy didn’t have any social media accounts. She had already tried searching for him before. How about Kyle?
The next day, she woke up at four in the morning. It was her first day at work so she was adamant to do things well. She was wearing green polka dots and a pair of pink slacks. Meanwhile, she put her thick hair into a bun, making it look as if she was carrying a big ball of hair in her head again. She also put on her big glasses to complete the look. She only drank a cup of coffee because she still didn’t feel like eating as it was still very early. Before the clock struck five, she had already left the boarding house. There were already a number of people outside the apartment as there were stores lined up nearby. She was only walking, reading the address that was sent to her. She didn’t want to hail a cab because it would only cost her more money. As she was standing beside the road, waiting for a jeepney, she asked people for directions, and she was told to ride a jeepney twice before she could finally reach her destination. Even when it was still early,
She froze on the spot the moment she reached the higher floor. She counted the rooms in there, and she saw that there were six big rooms. Which room was the head maid referring to? She was doomed. She couldn’t remember what the old woman said. She slowly walked into the hallway, trying to remember what the old maid said.Did she say right or left? She gathered a deep breath. She didn’t have any other choice but to guess. Whatever room that wasn’t locked, that was probably it.She walked towards the first room on the left side before slowly turning the knob of the door. It didn’t turn completely, locked, so it wasn’t the right room. She walked towards the right side instead and did the same thing, but just like the left room, it didn’t open.Breathing deeply once more, she walked towards the direction of the third room from the right. That room was also locked. What a pity! She couldn’t really remembe
While they were on their ride to the company, Natasha kept looking at Clyde whose reflection she could see in the rearview mirror. She knew that her face was already red because of how she stared at his handsome face. She wasn’t really thinking as she put a few strands of her hair behind her ear even when there weren’t really any strands that were all over her face. As she did that, she couldn’t help but smile, acting cute. She was even surprised when Kyle, whose forehead was creased, blocked her view, and a few seconds after, he saw her annoying smile once more."I knew it," he said softly before sitting properly and looking at his brother who was in the front seat as well. She followed his gaze and saw that he looked really amused. She fixed her countenance, and just looked outside the window of the car, feeling slightly ashamed. She didn’t hear a single word from the guy again until they reached the office. She was quick to get
Clyde entered a massive room on that floor. She trailed after him, her eyes wandering across the room. She saw several pieces of equipment that were used for the pictorials. She even saw an umbrella-like object, and she guessed it to be something that the photographers used to manipulate the lighting. There weren’t many people there. When she saw that Clyde placed all of the clothes that he was holding on a big table in the corner, she put the ones that she was carrying there as well. After getting the weight of the clothes off her arms, she stretched them as they had become sore already."Alright, just wait for Zara here." Clyde faced her, fixing the wristwatch that he was wearing."Thanks, Sir." Her smile was wide, it seemed like she was acting cute as she fixed her glasses. The guy only nodded at her before walking out of the room. When the guy was no longer in sight, she roamed her eyes in the room once more. It was the same room as the studios
Nicole had nothing to do but to frown as Natasha fixed the girl’s hair. Zara, on the other hand, kept looking at them. She didn’t even bother hiding how entertained she was watching the expression on Nicole’s face. She thought that there was a secret war that was going on between the two ladies, and there was only one reason behind that. It was no other than Kyle, of course.Damn! What did they see in that guy for them to be so crazy about him? Yes, he looked like Clyde, but for her, her love was way better than him. She turned her head to look at the direction of the guy who was still busy preparing the background design for the photo shoot."Ouch!" screamed Nicole before giving her a glare."Ah, sorry!" she apologized. She really hadn’t noticed that she had been twirling her hair hard already. She was doing her hair like what she did with hers, just as what Kyle requested. The guy even said that they no longer needed to call the
Kyle really did order lunch for the both of them. However, the guy just ate his food quickly so Natasha had no choice but to eat in a quick manner as well. She had also picked up the clutter after finishing before the guy became busy at what he was doing once more. Most of the time, she would just be staring at whatever Kyle was doing. Sometimes, he’d ask for her opinions regarding the pictures that he was editing. In fairness, the results were really good. Nicole didn’t look like a clown in the pictures even when her clothing style and hair style were used for the photo shoot. She couldn’t help but feel happy as she quietly stared at Kyle who was busy with his laptop and camera. She only talked whenever he talked to her. She preferred it better when the guy was serious like that because he wasn’t annoying. What she did was that she just imagined that it was Clyde that she was together with since the twins looked like each other in the first pla
