GUILTY-CHAPTER FORTY FIVE

I despised myself for being deceitful and keeping secrets. Zach would definitely be upset if he ever discovered that my ex had been living next door all this time, not to mention the kiss we shared and the fling I couldn't shake off for him.

I drowned my sorrows in vodka while I sat on the couch lost in my thoughts. A continuous knocking at the door reverberated through the room.

"I really need to install a doorbell soon. These knocks are going to give me a heart attack," I grumbled as I made my way to the door.

Opening it, I was met with a dishevelled man who seemed in desperate need of company.

"She left again," he said angrily.

"Where to?" I inquired.

"To America. I'll be all alone again, just like some stupid bachelor," he replied, walking into my house uninvited as I closed the door behind him.

"I'm sorry to hear that. But why not go with her?"

"And abandon my business to fail?" he shot back.
