The Dinner Party In The Blood Moon

I woke up to a sharp pain in my chest, gasping for breath. It took me a few moments to realize that Violet had pierced me with her finger.

“What are you doing, Violet?” I said, rubbing my chest. “That hurt!”

Violet just chuckled and said, “Sorry, mum. I just made coffee muffins with Daddy. Do you want one?”

I groaned, still recovering from the shock.

“Sure, why not,” I said, running my fingers through her hair. “Did you clean up the kitchen?”

“Yes, daddy helped me,” she said, grinning. “Daddy’s so good at baking!”

As I munched on the muffin, my phone vibrated on the nightstand. It was Jamien.

“Hey, Lauryn,” he said when I answered. “Hey, did you hear? Alpha Matthew got invited to a pack dinner by the leader of the Blood Moon Keepers! It sounds like it’s going to be a really cool event.”

“What? No, I hadn’t heard,” I said, surprised. “Why didn’t he tell me?”

“I don’t know,” Jamien said. “But you should probably let him know. It’s a big deal, you know.”
