7 Years Later…

Alpha Matthew stood with his arms crossed, watching as Violet struggled to load the crossbow.

“Come on, Violet, you can do better than that,” he said, urging her to try again.

Lauryn walked over, holding a tray of melon slices.

“Here, sweetie, have some fruit. You look exhausted,” she said, offering Violet a slice.

Alpha Matthew looked up, a hint of annoyance in his voice. “Lauryn, you’re spoiling her. She needs to learn to push through exhaustion if she wants to be a true warrior.”

Lauryn sighed. “But she’s still so young, Alpha. There’s nothing wrong with taking a break after eight hours of training.”

“I’m not saying there is, but she needs to toughen up if she wants to survive out there,” Alpha Matthew replied, gesturing towards the forest beyond their home.

Violet took a slice of melon and nibbled on it, catching her breath.

“Daddy, can we stop for today? I’m tired,” she said, looking up at him with pleading eyes.
