Ashina's Quest: Chapter 2
Today is my fifteenth birthday! I just woke up with my parents, Kayla and Beta Zach hovering over me. As soon as I open my eyes, I hear, "Finally! I get to wake up! We meet again, Ashina! I am Nyla! Let's get this day going. We got some work to do, and some asses to kick. We are going to work on you today, so be warned. You are going to say some stuff today that isn't like you, but we need to improve your attitude toward yourself. That starts with putting all the haters in their place. Ready?" I smile and say, "Ready." I said, "Mom, you said Yara was funny." Mom said, "Yes," I said, "Nyla is serious and wants to get stuff done." Mom laughed and said, "They're all different. I'm just glad you have her now. She will help you with the kids at school." I said, "I hope so. I've given up on it."
I get up and we all go to Nico's room. He is laughing uncontrollably. I knew it. With my wolf being so serious, I knew his was going to be hilarious. Nyla says, "I can be funny too,

Dad had all of the warriors that were on patrol looking for LeAnn, while I went to the dining room, to get a snack before my shift and the pack run. Dad wanted to call it off, but I refused. I told him that I was not going to be the cause of Nico and Seth missing out on the pack run. That is a big thing in the werewolf community. It's a rite of passage. It shows solidarity within the pack. It's even more important for Nico and Seth, because they are the future Alpha and Beta of the pack. It shows the pack's loyalty to the future Alpha and Beta. Today is the day before my seventeenth birthday. I'm really not looking forward to tomorrow. Mom wants to make a big deal of it though, so I will oblige. Plus, I really do have to go along with it. It's also Nico's and Seth's seventeenth birthday. They could find their destined mates. I don't want to ruin the day for them. That's one of the drawbacks to having a twin. Your birthday is never your own. It doesn't help that it's Seth's birthday too. Nyla said, "Come on, we need to talk to dad about that Rogue pack. He has news." I hurry and get dressed in some leggings and a tank, because it's Saturday and I want to work out after breakfast. I walk into the kitchen and grab a cup of coffee before sitting with mom, dad and Nico at the table. I start filling my plate with biscuits and sausage gravy with a couple slices of bacon. I said, "So, dad, Nyla said you have some news about the rogue pack." Dad said, "The scouts finally found them. But we can't touch them." I said, "Why?"

Mom and I are at the mall. She wants me to look hot tomorrow. I'm not particularly excited about it. Maybe once I get my daytime outfit, then my formal gown for the party, I will feel better about it. No telling. I see a leather store and say, "Mom, can we get a leather outfit for tomorrow?" Mom smiled and said, "I had a leather outfit for my seventeenth birthday too. Let's see if we can find something sexy, but classy too. I wore a little leather skirt, a leather tank top that zipped up the front, and a pair of thigh-high leather boots to school on my birthday." I said, "I bet that looked amazing on you!" I wake up the next morning with a smile on my face. It's my seventeenth birthday! I'm not really that happy about it, because I know my heart is going to be broken, in some way today. I know I will find my mate today. Not who which of us will do the rejecting, but I know it will be one of us. Not really too crazy about that idea, but that's kinda the story of my life, so far. Why should today be any different? Am I bitter about it? Not really. It's just the way it is. I have no control over it, and I can't change it. All I can do is go with it. I change into my leggings and sports bra and head straight to the gym. I'm well into my workout when mom and dad walk in. Dad comes walking up to me while I'm doing some pullups with my legs in front of me. He said, "Your mother did those the first time I tried to work out with her. That's when I knew her core strength had to be harder than mine. I couldn't keep up." I laughed as I finished that one and got down from the pull up bar.

I looked around to see who said it. I don't smell anything, so I'm totally confused. King Mateo and I walk out of the yard to the front of the house, and I see it was Nico!
