“Why not?” Josh snapped his gaze to Amber’s stern one, her decision seemingly unwavering.
“You’re not ready,” She simply said, her words hiding behind her sigh. Josh tightly gripped at the cover, unsure whether he’d heard right. He wasn’t ready? These strangers abduct them and get his friend killed and refuse to show him Alex’s body because he’s not ready?
What was that even supposed to mean? So, what if he wasn’t ready, that gave him no less of a right to visit Alex. Alex had risked his life to save him, risked everything he’d worked so hard to achieve just so he could keep him safe. Josh’s grief turned to rage, blood rushing to his head making it slightly throb. He took a deep breath, trying to calm himself. He looked away from Amber, his eyes most likely bloodshot.
Amber once again sighed, seating herself at the edge of the bed, her back turned to Josh.
