Chapter 122

Five years later.

Lorenzo's POV

"Daddy!" A tiny voice squeals and that's all the warning I get before I feel tiny hands grabbing at my trouser and tugging on them. "I missed you."

I look down at my daughter's smile which is missing two front teeth, and pick her up, holding her on my hip. "Where is Mommy?" I ask, kissing her on her forehead.

"She's in the kitchen with Lucenzo," she answers, wrapping her arms around my neck and resting her head on my shoulder.

I drop my car key into the bowl by the door and walk into the kitchen to see Celestine mixing a salad in a bowl. Lucenzo is seated on the countertop and dipping his hand into the bowl, stealing some of the vegetables and shoving them into his mouth.

The whole scene gives off Deja Vu vibes. I'm reminded of the time that Celestine kept stealing carrots off the chopping board as I tried to make dinner.

"Daddy's home," my sweet little princess announces for me and two sets of blue eyes lift from the bowl and turn to face us.
