Alvis

I couldn't help but feel Lindsey's sadness. It had been a week since we got back home, but instead of being happy, she had a dark shadow loomed over her face.

After a while, I finally had the courage to ask the question that had been bugging me. I asked her to meet me in the woods so we could be alone, and once she arrived, I told her to sit down.

"Lindsey, I'm glad you came," I said grimly.

"Why wouldn't I?" she smiled weakly.

"I don't know. Ever since we got back, you've been distant. Don't tell me you are still upset about Kai. Do you love him?" I asked, prepared to hear anything she had to say.

"I don't know if it's love, Alvis. I don't think it is. But I just feel this pressure in my chest. Was he..." Lindsey stopped as if she was unsure whether to finish her sentence or not?"

"Was he what, Lindsey? Spit it out," I urged her.

"Was he in a lot of pain when you...when you killed him?" her voice shook.
