Phoebe

I look at the hydra with wary eyes, unsure if it can be defeated. I haven’t awakened yet, which means I won’t be much help here. Dang. Will Adrian’s powers be enough to kill this monster? He struggled to defeat it when it had one head - now it’s even more powerful. Maybe we should run and call it a day just so that we don’t die?

I look at Adrian, blinking when I see him step in front of me as if wishing to protect me with his own life. “You should get away from here,” he says, peering down at me over his shoulder. “Run to the middle of the island. I plan on unleashing my powers, but there is no telling what will happen after I’ve done that. I sometimes lose...control.”

My eyes widen. “You what? You can’t do that if you lose control! What does that even mean?!”

His lips twitch in amusement. I get the feeling that whatever is going to come out of his mouth will be a lie. He has a sort of mischievous look to him.

“It means that I’ve accidentally killed pack members before,” he
