Chapter Forty-Nine

My heart almost collapsed at the sound of gunshots. I shut the door to my room immediately, praying that it wouldn't all end tonight. I tried calling Mace a couple of times, but he wasn't picking up. I guess he's still in a meeting. I hide in the corner of my room, all shaky. A few minutes later, my doorbell rang. I thought the bodyguards stationed downstairs had all been killed and were going to come at me like they did before. I went in search of a gun in the cabinet, I was about to open the cabinet when I heard my phone ring. I thought it was Mace, and I quickly jumped out of the bathroom in search of the phone. I didn't bother checking who the caller was, and I picked up.

"Mace, you need to come get me."

"Tilda, calm down." I heard Grace's voice from the other end.

"Grace?" I took the phone away from my cheeks to check who the caller was. Grace asked me to come downstairs because someone was asking for me.
