Chapter Forty-One

Kieran drove on the tarred road for a while before he turned to some forest path, and that was when I began losing consciousness. I tried pretty hard to keep my eyes open, but it was all in vain. I could hear when the car came to a halt and he opened his door, closed it back, and came around to my side. He opened the door and lifted me gently in his arms. He placed me on a bed, and I rolled on the side before dozing off.

I opened my eyes the next morning, and I couldn't figure out where I was; the room was unfamiliar. I turned to the right to see Kieran sitting on the chair and placing his head on the bed as he slept so soundly. I tried recalling what had happened and why he was sleeping like that, but I decided not to. I tried sitting up on the bed, but I woke him up instead.

"You are up already," he murmured while yawning. He placed his right hand on my forehead. I was surprised by his action, but I kept quiet. He nodded and pulled his hands away from my forehead.
