HURT

He sat on the edge of the bed , head in his hands , staring blankly at the door. The fight replayed in his mind , each harsh word echoing in the silent room. The sharp edge of his tone , her tear filled eyes.

As the minutes ticked by , he felt a gnawing sense of guilt. He picked up his phone and saw the missed calls and the message from his best friend.

“ shes not well “

His heart sank and a wave of regret washed over him. He cursed himself under his breath , feeling the sting of his own words. He wished he could take back every hurtful thing he’d said or caused her.

He stood up , chest heaving , eyes wild with anger. His face was flushed and his hands were trembling. The lamp shattered on the floor , its pieces scattered like fragments of his shattered composure.
