Chapter 6 Milly's Worries

"So, how is it, Darling? Are you prepared to marry?" Rebecca enquired about Milly and Arthur.

They were both deafeningly silent, and neither dared to speak. Earlier, Agatha had arrived to sabotage things, accusing Milly of everything and anything until the woman was traumatized and contemplating ending the marriage.

Arthur appeared to be at ease. He stood up, shrugging his shoulders in front of Rebecca.

"Ma'am, the sooner the better for me. Instead of Milly's pregnancy growing and becoming another issue for us. As you are aware, correct? Many journalists want to know about my personal life. As a result, I decided to hold this wedding as soon as possible."

Rebecca smiled cheerfully, knowing it would be simple to persuade Arthur to marry Milly. She was overjoyed because she would soon have the grandchildren she had longed for for so long.

The middle-aged woman's gaze shifted to Milly, who was still silent with a doubtful expression. The fear in her eyes was palpable, and Arthur could tell without even asking. The man snorted harshly and looked away for a moment before returning his gaze to Milly, who was still silent.

"Just relax if you're still thinking about Agatha. I'll see to it that she doesn't bother you." Arthur said suddenly, causing Milly to look up, confidently looking into Arthur's stern-looking eyes.

Rebecca recognized the situation and immediately turned to Milly, standing up and walking over to sit beside her future daughter-in-law. She rubbed the woman's shoulder gently.

"Is Agatha's presence unsettling to you? If that's the case, I can make her stay away from you or, if necessary, keep her out of town," said Rebecca suddenly making an offer that Milly thought was too much.

Milly was taken aback and immediately shook her head, a worried expression on her face. Of course, hearing all of Rebecca's words, the woman's peace was disturbed. Because this was an unexpected occurrence.

Milly had no idea a fetus was growing inside her womb. Even the steamy night with Arthur was not her choice.

It was all Agatha's rule, but the woman felt guilty for her friend because the baby in Milly's belly was not her will, and if Arthur hadn't asked, Milly would have chosen to stay out of Arthur's life.

"Aunty, no. There's no reason to be that way. I'm just concerned that Arthur and my marriage will cause Agata pain. After all, she is a friend of mine." Milly expressed her sadness.

Arthur was pensive for a moment as he listened intently to the woman's every word. Even though Milly had been framed and used for Agatha's purposes, the woman was concerned about Agatha's feelings and had previously threatened Milly. Arthur had no idea what Milly was thinking, but he hoped the marriage would go smoothly according to their agreement. He also hoped Agatha would stop interfering with his life. Rebecca, on the other hand, had reason to be pleased with the incident.

Arthur prioritized his mother's happiness above all else. So he'd do anything to make Rebbeca happy.

"Milly, you are so generous. Even though Agatha has accused you of everything and even threatened you. But you were concerned about her feelings. You are a wonderful young lady. It's not a bad idea if I make you my daughter-in-law. Arthur, you must look after Milly, particularly the baby in her womb. Remember, you'll never find another woman like Milly!" Rebecca turned to face her son.

Arthur simply cleared his throat, his face expressionless. This marriage was nothing more than a contract that could benefit both him and Milly, in his opinion. So Milly should take care of her womb as best she can for this her marriage contract to be fulfilled and Milly's mother to be fully healed, as the woman hopes.

"I'll bring you home."

Milly came to a halt when she heard the baritone voice from behind her back.

She had previously turned down Rebecca's offer to be driven directly by the driver, but it was Arthur who approached her and offered her a ride.

"There is no need. I can get home on my own."

Arthur remained silent as he stared at the woman in front of him, then sighed deeply and harshly.

"Don't get all strange on me. I didn't intend to bring you home, but my mother asked. I had no choice. What do you think? She wants the baby in your womb. So, if you want this contract to go smoothly and your mother to be well in the hospital, you must obey all of my orders." Arthur explained in a cynical and cold tone.

Milly remained silent, her heart pounding painfully. The words spoken by the man in front of her broke her heart. A sense of disappointment had infiltrated this heart for some reason. Maybe she thought that Arthur was offering her a ride of his own free will, but it turned out that it was all for Rebecca who wanted her son. Milly held her breath, trying to keep her aching heart at bay. But she had to remember that this was just a marriage contract.

Milly required a large sum of money for her mother's recovery, and Rebecca required a grandchild, so an agreement that benefited both parties was reached.

"Hey, why are you silent?!" exclaimed Arthur, making Milly jump in surprise.

"Are you going home or not?" Arthur inquired directly.

Milly just nodded and didn't say anything.

"Come on, I've got a lot of work to do, and you should know that a leader like me doesn't have time to worry about you," Arthur said, leaving Milly speechless once more.

She didn't want to aggravate the situation by responding to everything Arthur said.

Perhaps he said that because he was upset about having to marry a commoner like her. Nobody made a sound on the way home. The only sound was the roar of the car engine. Milly chose to gaze out the window of the car during the journey.

She remembered Agatha's threat to her at times like this. There was a mixture of fear and guilt. Milly, on the other hand, desired to meet with Agatha and explain what had occurred. But she had to think twice because if the marriage agreement was revealed to her friend, Milly's life would be ruined.

Arthur will not remain silent and will strongly advise Milly not to tell anyone, especially Rebecca and Agatha. So, what is Milly going to do to Agatha? Could she apologize to Agatha or remain silent and let Agatha exact her revenge?
