At the other room, Hayley is seated beside the the man she will be marrying. She doesn't like him. He came late, he has messy hair and just from the looks of it, he enjoys the rich young and wild life. Not to mention that he is full of himself too. Oh the worst possible groom she could ever have.
"So, have you two talked? Introduced yourselves to each other?" Mr. Maledict asked, smiling at both of them.
"We talked. But she did not tell me her name."
"Hayley," Mrs. Grimroe uttered in a low voice, raising a brow. "You should be polite to your future husband."
"Oh no, please, our Kenji must have been rude to the young lady," Mrs. Maledict says.
"Ah, so your name is Hayley," he mumbled, glimpsing with a smirk. "You could have been Amanda or Kate but you look more dangerous."
"Ken D should've been your name," she sneered. "Ken doll."
"Okay, that's enough both of you." Cassandra shifted glances between them. "We see that you are not fond of each other. Well, that doesn't matter, you will get used to each other starting next week."
"Next week? What's in next week?"
"Well, my dear Hayley," Mrs. Maledict smiles at Hayley, even reaching for her hand to hold. "We decided that you and our Kenji will live together in a condominium at the Marie Swan Building. That is in the meantime while we wait for your birthday and after you two tie the knot, you will have your own house. For now, you will be living in that condo."
Hayley looks at her mother with glossy eyes and then shifted them to Kenji who was beside her. He was looking at her the same.
"I thought we'd just marry? You never said anything about living together."
Finally, the stupid Kenji opposes. Neither did Hayley knew about living together. It wasn't even stated in the deal her parents had told her. They said she just needed to say yes and tie the Maledict to her name.
"It will only be a failed marriage if you live separately."
"You two know that we are thinking ahead of both of you, yes?" Shelby, Mrs. Maledict showed her wicked smile, like Cassandra has. "We know that after you get what you can get out of this marriage, you will be planning an annulment since divorce is not allowed in our state. But we won't allow you to do that."
"I've no intention. Actually I don't care," Kenji tells them. "It's Miss Hayley who has a problem with getting married and living--"
"I don't care," Hayley interrupts him, rolling her eyes. "As long as Mr. Kenji Maledict knows how to respect me, then I'm okay. And as long as the deal about my money is on, I'll keep being a good girl."
"Well, I guess my bride and me are on the same page. We are in it for the money."
As soon as the meeting with them was over, Hayley walked out the door, annoyed because her future husband had followed her. And while she waits for her parents to come out, Kenji with a smug face, stands in front.
"You didn't tell me you were getting money."
"Why would I need to explain to you?" She raises a brow, her lips pressed together forming a thin line. "We already agreed that we are marrying only for our freedom and the things we will get."
"How is being married free?"
"Tch," she scoffs, looking at him disgustingly, "Obviously we will still do what we normally do. You said it, I'm just going to change my last name but that doesn't change anything else. Also one rule that you should never forget, mind your own damn business!"
Kenji raised both his hands up in air like he has been captured by the authorities. He kept a charming grin on his face.
"Oh well, I guess I will see you next week at our new temporary home, my lovely bride." Before he walked away, he winked at her, making her groan in annoyance.
On the drive back to their mansion, Hayley was sitting quietly at the backseat with her mother. She didn't want to start a conversation because she's exhausted and was too irritated with that stupid Kenji.
"Oh don't be upset, Hayley. You know too well that this was how you will end up, getting married at a young age and pledge yourself to our family."
"Family's reputation," Hayley corrected, looking outside her tinted window. She wonders if she was born in a different and ordinary family, would she have been happy? "Don't you feel embarrassed when I call you 'mother'? You're marrying me off like I am only a thing."
"Oh quit the drama, Hayley!" Cassandra sighs, rolling her eyes at her. "Kenji is a good looking young man. Any girl would fall for him! You just have to be thankful you are not marrying someone old!"
"Oh, then thank you mother for marrying me off and adding a little more to the deal we have for my birthday," she sarcastically said, forcing a smile. "Also thanks for the advance gift. A handsome groom! I should display him."
As soon as their vehicle stopped in front of their mansion, Hayley just rashly pull the handle, pushing the door, opening it for herself instead of one of their men. She's too pissed off to even greet the other maids she meets on her way to her room.
After getting inside and closing the room before her, she just slide down, her back against the door. She gather her legs and huddled up, raking her damn hair with her fingers, sighing heavily.
Now that she met that damn Kenji she doesn't want to get married anymore. But if she doesn't marry him, she will surely be married to another man, probably older. Maybe even someone who does not think like her or someone who thinks females are trophies they needed to display and she has to dress up -- forcibly.
"Oh Gosh! I freakin' hate that Kenji but we think the same way," she muttered, inhaling before standing up. "I will just have to annoy that guy for as long we are living together. He will surrender."
An evil grin plastered on Hayley's mouth. They say that when a man falls in love with somebody, they love hard. If that happens to that darn Kenji, he will be begging for an annulment. By then I just have to wait, Hayley thought.
The days passed by really quickly and it was Kenji's last evening before he moves in with his future wife at Marie Swan's. Because it's a damn good evening, he wanted to celebrate it with his group of friends, drinking at some pavement just near a corner store. Kenji was having so much fun after three bottles of whatever the alcohol that is. Laughing with his friends never gets old. And they talk mostly about the drama the girls they have been with throws at them. "That damn nerd is hot, bro but she was looking for someone serious," Eren drank on his bottle and laughed. "But I ain't someone serious so she ran crying." The rest of their group shake their heads, chuckling slightly. All these dudes were into sex and one night stand, tasting all the girls they could have. That's the kind of life they want to have but Kenji is different. He just doesn't want to spend all his money on drinking nor does he want to have one night stand all his life. There was somethi
As Hayley is packing the rest of her things, she could not help but think about her future husband-- her damned future husband. The way he said he wanted to marry her now disgusts her. Why was he even there in the first place?"Are you alright, milady?"Hayley glances at Cristy who was helping her with her other things and she smiled, zipping her luggage. Then she went closer to Cristy."I am fine. I was just thinking of things I could do for that Ken doll to back out with this absurd engagement.""The young master, Kenji Maledict seems nice. He took you home safe and sound.""Oh no!" Hayley rolled her eyes. "He is far from nice! He is arrogant, a womanizer-- that is for sure and..." She pauses, looking around the room to describe the damn man."And you do not know much about him, milady."What Cristy said made her frown, pouting as well. Yes, she does not know the man well but he is a womanizer and she can confirm that! T
A mess. It is what Kenji saw in the kitchen when he got back. He was just going to get a bottle of water when his eyes caught the burnt food on the frying pan that's on the sink. Ingredient pieces were everywhere near the sink and plates and tools were left unwashed. Damn! This could only be Hayley!Kenji marched towards Hayley's door and when he was in front, he made a fist and bang loudly on his lovely bride's door. He doesn't care if she's already sleeping or what, he just needs the kitchen cleaned. The door opened revealing an annoyed Hayley with her arms crossed, her brows drawn together."What do you damn want?""I want you to clean the mess you made in the kitchen.""Tch! I'll do it tomorrow mor--""I want it now!" he interrupted, his voice cold and deep. "Do it or I'll drag you to the kitchen."Before Hayley started moving, she threw Kenji a dirty stare, rolling her eyes when she walk past him, mumbling. He s
Hayley woke up to the sun's rays hitting her eyes that made her close them once more, groaning a little and turning to the other side. Ah, now she's much comfortable. She feels tired so she's going to stay in bed a little more.Just some moments later, she could feel the brushing of fingers along her thigh and it tickles her, chuckling slightly. Her eyes remained close."Cristy, stop it. I'm still sleepy," she mumbled in her morning voice. "Go close the curtain for me.""I think I need to put down your skirt rather than curtain first. Your lovely thighs are showing."Hayley's eyes snapped open. She froze upon hearing that damn voice and seeing how she's facing his well-defined chest, she wants to scream! As she was about to push Kenji away, he suddenly wrapped his arm around her, pulling her closer. She glances at him and her eyes went wide."Stay. I won't do anything to you but just stay a little longer," he whispers with his husky voice and
Practicing with walking down the aisle was not pleasing to Hayley. Especially when Kenji is waiting for her at the end. His playful grin has had her scoffing all the time. She can't even believe she survived living with him for the past weeks. "Hayley! Smile! It's your wedding! You can't be frowning like that in three days' time! Learn to smile!" Aish, demanding damn coordinators! She had to force a big smile to please them. Her days have been like this, practicing the same old things and even the speeches-- scripted ones of course because just writing 'love' disgusts them both. When she got to the altar, Kenji took her hand whispering something in her ear. It isn't surprising anymore, he does it every time to annoy her. "Okay! So you both stand here while the priest does his things!" They decided that it will be a church wedding. Hayley specifically told their parents she wants a church wedding. It isn't because
After their long day, Hayley was still sulking at the other corner of their car. She was still mad from what Kenji did earlier and she didn't want to be touched. They were stuck in traffic, and it's even a long way home from the church they practiced at."I told you, it's just a practice. Don't tell me you didn't think we'd share a kiss after the priest announces, 'you may now kiss the bride'? You really think it's believable if I kiss you on the cheek?""I said don't talk to me, Ken doll. I'm really going to kill you!" she warns.Kenji glances at her for a moment and back in front. Hayley looked like she was going to eat him alive so he'll let her be for a while. Earlier at lunch, his father had given him a ring to give Hayley. That was why he had not let go of her and they ended up in that cake shop. In the end, he couldn't give the damn diamond ring.An engagement ring that costs a lot is necessary for their family's name, for the guests to see.
At the grand suite of the hotel, Hayley is being scolded while the make-up artist does her make-up. Although Cassandra is being loud, she could not hear her mother. All she thinks about was how she forgot it was her birthday, how her mother has not greeted her but Kenji did. The guy she dislike had remembered her birthday. "Your makeup is all set, love. The hair will be done soon and you can change to your gown." Hayley smiled at the artist and then reached for her phone. The first thing she saw on the screen was a text from Lucas and it immediately made her grin. Lucas never fails to greet her with a happy birthday. After she texted back with a thank you, Cassandra and the other staff told her to get changed to her wedding gown. The designer and his team had to help her. In order for it to be elegant, they need to assist her every time. Now she just hopes she doesn't trip over and be a laugh of the crowd. "Oh look at the time! We won't ma
Kenji was keeping an eye on Hayley even though he is talking with the guests. But just after a little while, he sees her talking to her assistant. And when Hayley suddenly ran out, he had to excuse himself and follow her outside. At the parking lot, he watches as she panicked, walking back and forth holding her cellphone. He was about to approach her when she mentioned a guy's name. It made him stop at the step his taking and listen to her cries with a frown on his face. Listening to Hayley desperately pleading for someone made him scoff. Hayley is sure a damn two-faced shit pretending to be this dignified fierce woman but when it comes to a guy she cries and pleads this much? He regrets ever selling his car for the damn rings. What the heck was he expecting? Hayley was in it for the money too but instead of for herself she was doing it for a guy. What a shame! Kenji had started liking her and the kiss they shared, he meant it. When
