I stared at him, waiting for it. I wanted him to say just one thing. That one word I have been expecting him to acknowledge me as. My brow ticked as I pulled my lips in, swallowing hard. Everything was new to me but still... I needed him to call me that. I waited for him to speak. He seemed to be contemplating telling me. Why?

"The thing is..." He gulped hard, his Adam's apple bobbing in the process. "You need to listen to me, okay?" His extended hands trembled a bit. I gave him a curt nod.

"You... You..." He kept hesitating. Beads of sweat broke out on his forehead. His eyes kept twitching and he kept blinking. "You are my mate." He said, staring at me like I was going to suddenly grow a beard and fly in the air.

I said nothing instead and watched him. His mate. He might not know this but I had once heard him call me that in his sleep. I was confused as to why he would call me that but after meeting his mother the other day, I knew I had to fight for my place with Alec.

"
