Damien’s POV
It had broken her!
After Vivian, I thought her mother’s death would have been the thing to tip her over the edge. Then again, no woman expected this to happen to them. She had gone with him in the hopes of being able to leave my pack safely and Ivan had betrayed her trust.
Her skin was bright red when she came out of the bathroom, and I couldn’t help but look at the jagged mark on her neck.
When I ask, she lets me hug her. I thought she might have refused. It takes a few moments before she breaks down. As I hold her, I try to ignore the mark Ivan had given her but it was staring me in the face. The unwanted mark of another Alpha, that was why it was so jagged and angry looking.

Forty Irina’s POV When I heard Alpha Ivan clapping, I shuddered as the fear crept over me. I tried to back away but somehow he had a weird hold over me and I couldn’t get away from him. As soon as he shouted ‘Shift’, my body began changing on its own. I didn’t like the way my wolf looked, how it was responding to Ivan's command, how a single word seemed to be able to control me. Damien’s POV The omega promised to keep me updated on my father’s health. I felt horrible for leaving but there was nothing I could do for him. His life was going to end no matter what, it might be days or even weeks, but his time would come. Austin came with a couple of bags packed and his car full of snacks. It was larger than mine and we had a long way to travel. I was grateful for how prepared he was. Saying goodbye to my sleeping father, we set off. Neither of us had a clue where we would find the Blood pack and Austin tells me that they are likely to find us first.
