Chapter Five
Few weeks passed by and everything was going so well. I was loving my job and I was hanging out with Theo most of the time when I was back home from work. We used to play video games or watch Netflix or simply chill out doing nothing at all. We were both comfortable around each other and I felt like we had become even closer than before.
Grace on the other hand was trying so hard to get any kind of information about him from me. It was even more convenient for her now but at one point it was getting out of hand and I was getting really pissed.
"So you and Theo huh?" Riley, my best friend from high school asked, breaking my chain of thoughts and I choked on my own saliva. We were meeting out for lunch at a small diner near my hospital as I was tired of hanging out with Grace.

The next morning I woke up in my bed with a horrible hangover and let out a loud groan. I was in no mood to head to work and just wanted to sleep in. I rolled over and picked up my phone from the bedside table and found a dozen of texts from Theo and one from Grace. I opened her text first in my sleepy daze. 'Sorry about yesterday. "Hi, Lucy!" I heard Grace's high-pitched voice in the cafeteria as I was ordering my coffee. I was finally on my break after working for four hours straight. I turned around slowly to find her walking towards me. She looked so happy and I could see it in her eyes sparkling with excitement.Dear Lord!I think I need a double espresso. Halfway through the movie, I heard a loud knock on my door, making me jump from my seat and causing the popcorn to spill all over my couch."Dammit!" I cursed under my breath and cleaned my couch before making my way across the room all the while wondering who it might be at this time.Would it be Theo?I looked up at the clock and it was 11.30 pm. He did say we could have our movie night if he came back home alone. I shook my head and tried not to get my hopes up high.I opened the door and was met with a pair of crystal blue eyes. He looked tired and was resting his arms on the side of my door. I also noticed that his tie was undone, a few buttons of his dress shirt was open, revealing his chest.Was he...in the middle of something?

"She is not my girlfriend yet. We are justdating and I don't get the same vibe with her anymore. It's weird because I was so sure that she would the one for me." "He said what?" I almost yelled insurprise and Grace gave me a puzzled look."I said he agreed to come with me to the fundraiser," she replied and I could see that she was confused by my reaction."Oh...oh good, I thought I heard the opposite of it. Silly me!" I gave her a nervous laugh and saved the awkward situation."I need to get a dress. I have nothing to wear," she whined while my mind was circling around Theo.What was he playing at?Why was he leading her on?"Lu, are you even listening?" She waved her hand in front of my face and I finally looked at her."What?""I said, I need a dress. Are you all set for the evening?""Yeah, I'll just wear something. It's not like I have a date or something." I added and she gave me a small pout.

Once I was back home that evening, I started to rummage through my closet to find a perfect dress. I was not looking forward to this fundraiser in the beginning but now that I wasn't going alone, I wanted to look good and sexy.I finally settled on a silver floor-length gown that had a deep neckline. After taking a nice shower, I wore my dress and started to work on my makeup, keeping it subtle.I ran a comb through my hair and quickly pulled it to the side and tied it in a bun, leaving just a few strands of hair to frame my face. It was almost 7 pm and Dan would be here any minute now. I grabbed my clutch and slipped my feet inside a pair of silver high heels and rushed to the living room. At sharp 7 pm, I heard my doorbell go off. I took a few deep breaths and walked towards my door expecting to see Dan but it was Theo with his tie in his hand. He was looking annoyingly sexy as always in his three-piece tuxedo.

"Fuck!" I cursed under my breath and saw Grace panicking beside him. He stopped anyone that was trying to help him and walked away from the crowd that had gathered to witnesses the commotion."I think I should go help him. I'll be right back, Dan." I rushed out, picking the ends of my dress to walk faster."Sure. I'll be fine and remember what I told, Lucy." He called out to me as I walked towards Grace. Once I reached the dinning area, I saw her standing with a worried look on her face."What the hell happened and where did he even go?" I asked, completely unaware of what went down between them."I don't know, Lu. We were drinking and just talking. Then, I got a call and while I was busy on my phone, I heard a noise and that's when I turned around to find him with broken glass and his hands were all bleeding..." She started to sob and I rolled my eyes at her silly behavior.

"I'm here," Theo announced and walkedtowards her while I reminded hidden behind the bushes."Are you okay? Did Lucy find you?" she asked in an extra worried tone and I rolled my eyes at the way she was acting all innocent and caring."I'm okay and uhhh...I didn't see Lucy." He stammered a bit and I let out a small sigh. It was time for me to go home. I had enough drama for one night and I just wanted to get out of my clothes and sleep in my own bed.Once I was able to hear only muffled voices, I realized that they were walking away from me and I slowly came out of my hiding. I started to make my way towards my car and tried to hold back my sob. Everything was messed up and now I had no idea if he was going to end things with Grace.
