Chapter Two

"Fuck, my legs are hurting. I'm done with the number of rounds we had to do today." I whined, sitting down at the hospital cafeteria and Grace copied my actions, placing our coffees on the table.

"For starters, you shouldn't have worn those wedges." She laughed at my whining and I stuck my tongue out at her in a playful manner.

"It was pretty good actually. I mean, we could get used to this and it's definitely not bad for our first day." I spoke, taking a sip of my coffee.

"Yeah and I think Dr.Brew has the hots for you." She winked at me suggestively and I rolled my eyes.

"He isn't my type but he seems nice though. I wouldn't mind if he is my mentor." I shrugged casually and pulled out my phone to check my messages and emails.

"Let's see what happens. Also, we are meeting this guy around 7 ish tomorrow. We would be done for the day by then, right?" she asked, busy typing away on her phone.

"Yeah sure."

"Cool, see you tomorrow then. I'm gonna take a cab."

"Shut up. I'll drive you home."

"You can't drive me around every day, Lu. It's totally fine." She argued back but I shook my head firmly.

"I'm driving you home. Period." I stood up and she had no other choice but to agree with me.

I can be stubborn as hell if I want.

Once I was back home, I changed out of my work clothes and took a nice hot shower to relax my nerves. After putting on a loose t-shirt with nothing underneath it except for my panties, I walked over to my kitchen to cook some dinner. I put on some loud music and started to chop some onions. There was something comforting about being alone but at the same time, I do find myself wishing to come home to a loving boyfriend once in a while. That wouldn't be so bad but was I even ready for relationships?

The only serious relationship I ever had was in high school and I ruined it because of Theo, my childhood friend/enemy. The last time, I saw him was during my senior year of High school when he came home from college for his sister's wedding. He wasn't exactly the Greek god type but there was something sexy, alluring, and enticing about him that made me want to kiss him back when he kissed me. The silly crush I had on him since childhood didn't help that situation either.

That bastard!

We were not on talking terms after the fight we had in childhood. Why did we even start kissing in the first place that day?

Was he back in New York?

Ugh! Why was I even start thinking about him now?

I shook my head and tried to focus on my cooking when I heard a loud knock on my door. I turned off the stove and walked towards the sound of it. I was almost about to open the door but stopped myself when I realized I wasn't dressed appropriately.

"Who is it?" I asked, placing my hand on the door and resting my ears against it.

"I live just across the hall and I heard that someone new moved into this apartment two days back. I thought of stopping by to say hello." A deep sexy masculine voice resonated through the door which sent tingles down my spine.

Oh, wow!

A hot neighbor? Maybe!

Damn, why didn't my door have this peephole?

"Umm....that's really sweet of you but could you maybe come over another time or something? I'm not...uhhh..well dressed?" I replied which almost sounded like a question and I could hear his deep laughter.

"Not that I would mind but sure, I'll come over some other time. Good night, neighbor." He responded, making me raise my eyebrows.

"Go-Good night." I greeted back almost in a stutter and mentally face palmed myself. I could hear his faint chuckle and his footsteps walking away from my door.

Interesting

"Are you sure this is the place?" Grace asked, tugging at my sleeves, looking beyond nervous. We had arrived at the seafood place 15 minutes early after our shift at the hospital so unfortunately, she didn't have time to change for her date with this mystery guy.

"Yeah, I know this place but it looks totally different now," I stated, looking around at the beautiful interior. The place was fairly crowded and it had completely turned into a high-end restaurant.

"By your expression, I take this is as a good different."

"Of course, it's amazing." I smiled, thinking back to the days I used to come over here with Theo and his sister. It was more like a burger joint back then.

"Let's go grab a seat." Her voice brought me back from my thoughts and I looked at her and nodded in agreement.

"Did you tell him you were bringing a friend?" I asked again just to be sure as we sat down.

"Yeah, Lu. He was okay with it." I let out a soft sigh and rested back against my seat.

"Didn't you ask anything personal about him?" she asked me and I gave her a confused look.

"Like his name? Or Job?"

"No, because guys always lie about it, and neither did I tell him anything about you. Except for your appearance."

"What if he is an old creepy dude or something?" she pouted, making me laugh hard.

"It works both ways, Gracie. He could think the same thing. Just relax. It's just a casual meet and greets."

"You are right, let's just get it over with."

After a few seconds, we heard a notification tone from her phone.

"Is it him?" I asked her eagerly.

"Yeah, he is asking where we are seated." I immediately looked around and found no one in the appearance he had mentioned earlier through his texts.

Blue eyes. Dark wavy hair.

Nope.

I don't see anyone.

"Chaotic Soul?" I heard a deep yet familiar voice from behind and we both turned around to find the owner of that voice.

Standing behind us was the guy who was true to his words, tall with sparkling crystal blue eyes, Jet black wavy hair that looked so soft, making my hands itch to run through it, and a hint of stubble on his chin which made him look sexy as hell. My eyes roamed all over his body shamelessly. He wasn't perfectly built with a six-pack or anything but had the body that made me drool instantly and unfortunately it was covered by his chef uniform.

The only fucking problem was I knew this guy.

This bastard!

Theodore fucking Phillips!

"You've got to be fucking kidding me! Lucy Wilson?" he asked with wide eyes and I quickly turned around in panic. This wasn't happening. He can't be here and he definitely can't be Lonewolf.

Or was he?

"Oh my god! Do you guys know each other or something?" Grace asked beside me while he sat down in front of us. I didn't dare look at him as I was mentally freaking out.

This was the literal definition of an awkward situation.

"Yeah, she is my childhood friend, and the last time we saw each other was years back during my sister's wedding when we ki--" I choked on my own saliva, gaining everyone's attention, interrupting him successfully.

"Are you really Lonewolf?" I asked, narrowing my eyes at him. He rolled his eyes and pulled out his phone showing us the chat conversations.

Fuck!

"Wow, this is unbelievable. Small world huh!" Grace gave a nervous laugh beside me.

"Trust me, you have no idea. This is indeed un-fucking-believable." I muttered and he just grinned widely at both of us.

"I'm Theodore Phillips aka Lonewolf. I'm a chef and not to brag but I technically own this restaurant. I assume you are Chaotic Soul from the blonde hair." He introduced himself to her and I just kept blinking rapidly, still trying to process what the actual fuck was going on.

He owns this restaurant?

Holy Fuck!

I never would have guessed that he became a chef, let alone own a restaurant.

"I'm Grace Cooper aka Chaotic Soul. I'm a doctor and so is she. We just started our residency training program here in New York." She explained with a small smile and he stole a glance at me quickly.

"That's amazing, Grace and it looks like your friend and I have a lot to catch up on. Fun fact, we use to be best friends." He spoke, not peeling his gaze away from me.

"There is nothing to catch up on. Asshole." I mumbled under my breath and he raised his eyebrows.

"I'm sorry but did you forget that we had a truce and agreed to be friends when you visited my house all those years back." He replied with a sly smirk on his face while I gritted my teeth in anger, "Oh right, you don't remember it because you kissed me again and ran off to your boyfriend that you forgot to mention when we kissed for the first time."

Ouch! That hurt!

"I'm gonna go use the restroom." I excused myself and stood up to get away from his presence and the awkward tension between us as soon as possible.
