Chapter Eighteen

We watched, in silence, as Billingsworth and Godwin dissolve into nothingness.  Then, without a word, Cindy marched to the front door to inform his entourage of vampires that their leader was gone and that they needed to leave the premises.  They resisted, at first, but, with a little prompting from Kenton, they grumbled their way back to Godwin’s home.

I stood in the open door beside Kenton as he watched the vampires slink away.  Our bodies were so close that their auras were caressing each other.  It felt so comforting and sexy that I didn’t want to move.

“I’ve never stopped loving you,” he said while staring  through the opened door.  “I can’t believe that you’d let Godwin poison your mind like that.”

“It wasn’t just Godwin,” I said, hesitantly.  “It was the way you and my mother behaved.  You were rather cozy last night.”
