Chapter Seventeen

Sleep overtook me almost as soon as I’d sprawled across the bed.  The sun was waking up the world by the time Godwin arrived to disturb my blissful sleep with the outlandish raucous he was creating in the foyer.

Thankfully, both my mother and Cindy had gone to bed hours earlier so there was only Kenton to greet him when he came bounding into the house.  His argument with Kenton was loud and threatening.  He insisted on being allowed upstairs to my room while Kenton was determined that I not be disturbed. 

I was at a loss at what to do.  The last thing I wanted was to be stuck behind closed doors with Godwin.   Whether I was with Kenton or not, I still wanted Godwin out of my life and, preferably, serving time for his dirty deeds.
