Gaby sighed as she walked to the ladies' toilet in the school. She had taken an excuse from miss Thompson to use the toilet even while the class was still in session. She hurriedly opened the door of the toilet and entered one, quickly easing herself. As soon as she relieved herself, she got out and moved to the sink, staring at her face in the mirror and she washed her hands. She knew exactly why Jeremy wanted to see her and has been avoiding him since. The last time she had a conversation with him, it had not turned out well. She had been watching her favorite drama on TV in her bedroom when he knocked on the door. If she had known who it was, she wouldn't have opened the door for him. She had thought that it was Craig who was at the door so she got up from her seat and quickly opened the door, not bothering to look at the face of the person or even asking who it was. She had just opened the door and walked straight back to the couch to continue watching her movie, a mistake sh
"Gaby? Gaby?! " Silver called as she stared at Gaby who was looking at her face in the mirror, in a daze. She stared at her and watched as Gaby still stared at her face in the mirror, wondering why she was being that way."Gaby?!" Elena called, also glancing at her worriedly."Huh?" Gaby said, shaking it off herself back to reality."What's wrong? Your weekend staring at your face in the mirror, looking dazed. Were you daydreaming?" Silver asked, looking at her worriedly."Uh? No. I guess I was just trying to see if I can see my facial pores from here in the mirror," Gaby lied, forcing a smile on her face at them."Oh..I see. But If that's what you were doing, then you would have noticed it when we came in here, wouldn't you? "Elena asked, glancing at her suspiciously."I would have, yes, if I had not been too focused on my face. I didn't notice you guys because I was too focused on checking for the pores, though I might have heard some sounds of you guys I didn't want to distract mys
Elena checked her phone for the thousandth time that evening, neither had Matthew replied to any of her texts nor had he sent her a message. It had been almost two weeks since he left and she had sent him a message on almost every social media platform she knew he had but she hadn't gotten a reply. She scrolled through the pictures on her phone with a small smile on her face. They were pictures of her and Matthew, pictures that she barely knew who had taken them or when they were taken. Most of the pictures were beaming with happiness and smiles, something that rarely happened when taking pictures with others. Even Gaby and Silver didn't have that ability. Her phone suddenly buzzed with a video call and Elena immediately sat up with a surprised expression on her face. She quickly picked up the call smiling as soon as a girl's face came into view. The girl had a pile of purple hair packed up in abun and held with a pencil. She was donned in a tank top and with the way she was sweating,
"Could you please tell Grandma I'll be coming over for a few days?" Elena asked grabbing a toast from the plate of food on the dining table.Clara stared at her daughter for two seconds and immediately nodded her head. "Sure, sure. I'll ring her up and let her know" she replied walking towards the kitchen to pick up her phone."When do you want to go?" She asked."After school" Elena replied her reply immediately throwing Clara off balance."You mean after school today?" She asked rushing into the dining room to see Elena's quite very calm face."Yes," Elena replied taking a gulp of her tea."Elena, about yesterday…." Clara trailed off but paused in the middle seeing the way her daughter was staring at her."Mom, could you not ask about it?" Elena asked in a small voice that made Clara think she would burst into tears the very next minute. It was the softest Clara has ever seen her daughter. She slowly nodded her head while beaming a smile, "Sure. I won't ask anything" she replied s
Elena could read the surprise on the counsellor’s face after she had asked for the rest of the week off. She had missed school for days before she even hadn’t asked for permission. Asking for permission was so not part of what Elena did, well, usually.Elena rolled her eyes seeing Sarah leaning on the wall as soon as she stepped out of the counsellor’s office.“Seeing the way you look like and the way Gaby flared up when something merely stepped on her in class, I want to believe that Craig broke up with you and Gaby had something to do with it,” Sarah said with a snarl and Elena rolled her eyes.“Is this something you put on your to-do list? Every day?” Elena asked with a blank face before shaking her head.“I am warning you, Sarah, you stay away from me” Elena added attempting to walk away but Sarah was quick to block her path.“Not so fast Elena” Sarah replied.“Craig broke up with you, right? He had something with Gaby right? They always looked so weird though so it’s no surprise”
Nobody could explain what had happened, they were just all left in shock and surprise. No one knew what had happened to Elan Sergio. It was as though a new spirit had taken over her overnight. The news of her and Craig breaking up had spread around the school and while the school was in a heated discussion about what had happened, words had spread that Craig had cheated putting Criag in a really bad position but Elena was nowhere to be found. She had skipped school for the rest of the week and by the time she resumed school, she was a whole new person. She was still a baddie that sat at the top of the social food chain but a lot of things had changed that no one had an explanation too. They had started filling out forms for their college and university applications. And amidst that Elena had placed third in an art competition stunning not just the school but everyone. No one had taken Elena to be an art person, in fact, one of the cheerleaders had accused Elena of having neither brai
ONE YEAR LATER Matthew threw his head back as the plane landed. He closed his eyes and took in a few breaths while opening his eyes again. He grabbed his bag and followed the hordes of passengers off the plane walking towards where he would grab his box. He had sent most of his stuff back a month ago so all he needed was a box. A feeling of nausea and familiarity washed over him as she walked towards the airport entrance. Nothing seemed to have changed since the last time he had first come to the airport. The memories of a year ago suddenly washed over him but instead of feeling heartbroken or heart-wrenching emotions as he had always done, he laughed instead. He nodded at the security with a smile as the sliding doors opened and he stepped out of the airport lobby but the very next moment, his smile got frozen as soon as he saw the person in front of him. “Elena” he called out in sheer shock. There was a girl standing in front of him her hair packed neatly and pulled into her pony
By the time Elena got to the welcome party, it was bustling with activities and a lot of their high school friends. After they graduated from high school, Elena did not think that most of them would still hang out, some pursuing some of their hobbies while some just lazed around, some resumed immediately, went out of the country and continents and everybody was just doing their own thing. Elena could feel her phone buzzing in her pocket and she brought it out to see a text from Silver. We are at the pool. She immediately made her way down the stairs and headed towards the door that led to the poolside and pushed the door open. Silver, Gaby, Jeremy, Matthew and some other people were there talking in loud voices.“Elena!” Gaby yelled attracting everyone’s attention as she walked towards them. She had changed her short skirt into black cargo pants. She smiled as she found a place to seat.‘You came so late, missed all the fun” Gaby complained and Elena chuckled.“I had to finish someth
