Mary’s pov

“Good morning Mary” Kristen says when I walk out of the bathroom.

“Morning “ I mumble. I barely managed to get any sleep and while I know I have to get moving on to a new town as far away as I can get, I would like nothing more than to curl back up and get a few hours sleep first.

“Breakfast is in the kitchen, get it while it’s hot.” Kristen smiled and walked into the common room area.

I will never understand how she does it. Every day she cooks, counsels, comforts, houses and protects 50-70 kids with a wide variety of problems. She never gets crabby(at least not that I have seen over the last few years when I have stayed here), and she never makes you feel like you have overstayed your welcome. I know if the situation were different, I could probably stay here for a month or more as long as I was willing to participate in group and work on myself.

“Stop stalling” I say to myself.

I go into the kitchen and eat until my stomach feels like it might bust (might be a few days
