Nina “Are you supposed to be here?” I turn around and ask him but he walks dangerously closer to me my breathing starts to increase as fear starts to grip me slowly It's the man from the other night and he's wearing the same black clothes with a mask on his face. “You thought you had won? Emily “Do you have a moment?” Kate’s soft voice makes me turn around and I find her facing anywhere else but me. “Theo had to take care of something and I’m stuck.” She explains but the confused look on my face must give it away because she goes on to add. “Can I get a ride back?” she asks and the question hits me like a blow. It has been four days since the trial was finally over. Instead of being a witness, William was instead prosecuted and found guilty of assault and abuse of power. Victoria was also found guilty and sentenced to life imprisonment with no access to bail. I don’t know how Liam did it but I just want to show my appreciation tonight and that is why I called the girls over, to help me shop for lingerie and other ingredients for a meal. Nina My phone rings for the hundredth time and I stare at it sighing heavily before swiping right. “Hi.” I blush the irritation immediately vanishing at the sound of his voice. “Hey book princess.” comes Theo’s thick deep voice. I smile like a high school girl as I bite my bottom lip, “This is the hundredth time you’ve called me in less than an hour.” I tease making him chuckle. “Just checking on my favorite girl. Move in with me so that I won’t have to call every hour.” Theo suggests making me roll my eyes as I fight the butterflies growing in my stomach. I smile again while twirling a strand of my hair in my finger, brushing off the joke. "Nice try, Theo. But I'm not falling for that.” “You’re right. We first start with putting a ring on those gorgeous fingers before anything else.” He whispers making me clench my thighs together when I’m all alone in the kitchen. “Theo..” I trail off unsure what to respond to that. Nina All my life I thought that what stops a heart from beating is when life is taken away but even as an Author, I never imagined that someone’s confession could stop you from breathing. I stare at the most gorgeous man I’ve ever seen and when he tells me he loves me, my whole world shifts, and suddenly it feels like I’m floating. All the pain I was holding onto, suddenly becomes a cloud of certainty. I feel heartbroken for having lost my mother like that but heaven gave me a second chance and gave me a beautiful mother. If not for the triggers, I would still not have known about the adoption. This is how great my parents have been and that is something I shouldn’t throw away. This man holding me into his arms has reminded me of that, and as I look up at him a smile stretches across my face. “Thank you,” I whisper.
