CHAPTER 23

Amara Nicholas:

"You have no right to speak to my younger sister in such a manner again! Is that understood?" Darlington glared at me after he shut the door and walked up to meet me, yanking me by my shoulders.

I thought he wanted to beat me for insulting his sister. I pulled his hands off my shoulders and rushed into the restroom to wash my face in the lavatory.

Likewise, I heard Darlington bang on the bathroom door. "Come out, Amara. I need to take my bath and leave this house."

I ignored responding to Darlington. My face stung from the multiple slaps that Samara gave me, and I couldn't imagine that I already agreed with my father to stay here with them.

I couldn't complain to my father, not after I had agreed that I would stay with Darlington and become his wife.

Similarly, I admired Darlington. He's handsome and I want to be his wife. I washed my face, switched on the tap, allowed the water to flow on my right palms, then used the cold water to splash on my face.
