CHAPTER 25

Darlington Briggs!

Amara found it difficult to eat the bread and likewise drink the tea. It was unhealthy to be in a toxic relationship. Marriages were not supposed to be forced, but now, I had to accept to marry a woman I had no idea about for the sake of peace to reign in my father's home.

"Don't you like the tea? Should I send the maids to prepare another tea for you?" My father asked Amara, as we were almost done with our breakfast. But there, Amara sat on the chair and looked at her bread in her hand.

"The tea is fine," Amara replied. Then she set the bread aside and drank from the tea.

After we finished our breakfast in the dining hall, my father rose from his seat and informed Amara, "We are going to the church for the New Year's Thanksgiving service. Do you attend church too in the countryside?"

"Yes, I will like to attend the church service here too," Amara's response was short.
