Chapter 39 - No Regret

In the middle of the dinner, Kirsten caught sight of Vanessa from afar. Having noticed that Kirsten was looking elsewhere, Matthew asked with a frown. “Who are you looking at?”

“The woman I met this afternoon. She told me that her boyfriend, in order to protect her, got engaged to a woman his family had chosen for him.” A noticeable repulsion flashed in her eyes which was not lost on him. Realizing the similarity of the story to his, Matthew turned his head and looked at the direction Kirsten was looking at and saw Vanessa.

“Call of nature,” Matthew said while he stood. In a haste he headed to the restroom and called the bodyguards following them discreetly and barked an instruction.

Seeing that Vanessa was in panic when intercepted by two men in black suits, Kirsten went over to check what was happening.

“I don’t know you, why would I come with you!” Vanessa answered sharply, trying to push her way out of the men but they held her arms.
