Chapter 9: Pack Profit

Josh’s POV

Her face floods my mind as I return to the pack house. There’s just something about her smile. Something about the way she holds herself.

I know she has reservations. I don’t blame her! She’s wolfless and a single mom. That’s gotta be rough. But she’s strong. Resilient. Smart and independent. She’d be a wonderful Luna, even without a wolf.

“Joshua, we need to talk.” A mindlink from my father. His voice is stern. Great, I sigh. I know exactly what he wants to ‘talk’ about. “I’m in my study,” he adds.

“Coming,” I mindlink back. Then I trudge down the hall towards his study. No use in postponing the inevitable.

My father wastes no time. He gets right to the point.

“That’s quite the little stunt you pulled, Joshua.” He’s sitting at his desk, his brows furrowed. “Needless to say, I am not impressed.”
