Chapter 12: The Pack House

Suvi’s POV

We arrive at the pack house. Josh is carrying Myla. I instantly see the gap between Josh and me. I knew it was there, the gap. He’s rich; I’m not. He’s famous; I’m nobody. But KNOWING there’s a gap and SEEING it are two entirely different things.

The pack house is beautiful. Swanky. High end everything. All gleaming marble and shiny finishings. Plus it’s huge. It takes us a few minutes just to cross the foyer!

It even smells good. Like lavender.

It’s a far cry from my crappy apartment in the slums. I suddenly feel very self-conscious. Josh leads me down the hall into a private room.

“It’s a guest room,” he explains, placing Myla gently on the four poster bed.

A guest room? It’s the size of our entire kitchen/living room area.

This is Josh’s world. I see it clearly now.

And his world is SO far from mine.

He tucks Myla into the covers, covers that probably cost more than I make in a week. I’m clutching her suitcase, unsure of what to do with it. It doesn’t belong in here, he
