Chapter one hundred and sixty three

Kayla’s POV

I stayed with my father and Willow at the palace as we played games and had lots of fun.

My father kept on asking me questions about the palace and even when I found the questions a bit disturbing, I didn’t make anything of it.

After all, he was only being curious which wasn’t a bad thing.

One day, I decided to ask him about his questioning to know what he was after.

“Oh it’s nothing,” he said with a smile. “I’m in the same palace that killed your mother. I have to be sure I’m not being targeted and I’m not going to be killed one day for doing absolutely nothing.”

It wasn’t a believable answer but I was willing to go with it.

“Dad, just enjoy the palace and its lush food. It’s not a bad place to be, I promise.”

“I thought you said you would have nothing to do with him.”

“It turns out he’s my mate.”
