Why is he so laid back?

He nodded at the question, running his hand through his hair as he turned to face me. There was a red tint on his cheeks as he did so. “I learned most of the things I know when I was in high school. I didn't have the best memories of that place, but there were things I learned that helped me.” He smiled, reminiscing the old days.

The small smile on his face was enough to show just how much he missed high school. It was in his gaze and the way his eyes sparkled just speaking of it.

“It sounds like you had some fun time in high school.”

He nodded. “Yeah, there were.” He held the door open, smiling at me. “Let's go.”

I stepped towards him, glancing back in the room once more before I strode out of the room, and into a dimly lit corridor. Blinking and squinting couldn't help me out. I was as blind as a bat.

Fred closed the door behind him and took my hand in his. “I will lead you out of this place. I know it's too dark for your eyes,” he explained, to let me know why he held me.
