I didn't get to spend much time with Kaelan since we brought him here to live with us. He kind of keeps to himself.

So I decided to go find him. It felt kind of awkward since I looked like his mom without actually being his mother. Because I still didn't figure out how Esther and I are connected.

The more I think about the whole situation, the more impossible it seems. Maybe it isn't just a simple reincarnation, and there is something more complex that made this possible.

I find Kaelan sitting by the river alone so I approach him.

"Hey," I said.

Kaelan looks up and smiles at me. "Hi."

"What are you doing here by yourself?" I ask.

"I come here to be alone sometimes," he replies.

"That's understandable," I respond, taking a seat beside him. "Sometimes it's nice to have some quiet time. Is everything alright? Are you having a hard time adjusting here?" I ask.
