Chapter Forty-seven

Madeleine

The third time, I raised my voice a little, “Ben, Garron saw you recording; he knows what my plan was…all along…”

I told him and kicked a stray rock. Somehow, I was feeling both annoyed and sad. Garron had never been my alpha, not in my heart and now I was losing the one who I truly wanted.

And, I was helpless against it.

Ben seemed to hear me this time because he abruptly fell silent. 

“What? Are you sure?”

He asked again in a doubtful voice to which I replied, “At the end, he asked me to tell you to turn off the flashlight because it was irritating him.”

Hearing my last line made him curse loudly.

“Fuck. I had switched it on for just a second to see if there was anybody around me when I heard a voice.”

He punched his fist in a nearby tree and I only gave him a dry smile.

“Well, at least you tried….for me&helli

The story it great. My only critique is to stop using thus and hence. They are unnecessary and break up the flow. Assume that we can take the leap of cause and effect between sentences.
