Wrong Turn

I ran as fast as my legs would go until I was back out at the front of the castle where the sweet little fairy met me just moments ago. I was holding back tears when I asked “How do I get down?”

Peony fluttered over to me searching my face for a tale but I wasn’t giving her one. I didn’t want anyone to know what they claimed me to be. Someone couldn’t be a Lycian and a Witch. No one has ever heard of it in the hundreds of years of history before us so why now? And why me?!

After a moment of silence she waved her hand and a glass staircase appeared leading to the ground; she then rushed into the castle no doubt to tell Queen Eira I was leaving the grounds. I hesitated, because the last time I left my mate it ended terribly for me, then sprinted down the staircase, onto the main road until I was back at the shops we passed on the way in. All of the shops were open with green lines painted in front of their doors.
