My Heartless Husband Wants Me Back
My Heartless Husband Wants Me Back
Author: Armisteads

Prologue

At the centre of the huge and well decorated church, full of people. There stood a man dressed in a white tuxedo, his jet black hair properly styled, and his eyes showing unreadable emotions in them, but it was obvious that he wasn't quite thrilled or looking forward to anything.

Opposite to him, was a gorgeous lady, dressed in a beautiful white gown, its design was so intricate and unique, heavily pleasing to the eyes. And unlike the man, she looked happy, always smiling. She was like a ray of sunshine, while he on the other hand was like a dark cloud ready to burst thunder.

“Do you, Caden Caldwell accept Sophia Williams to be your lawfully wedded wife? To love, to hold, and to cherish forevermore?” A priest asked Caden. He didn’t answer immediately, he looked apprehensive, but in the end, he still said the two words that Sophia was waiting to hear.

“I do,” He dryly said, and looked at Sophia with a hollow expression. He never wanted to marry her. He was only obligated to do so because of the silly promise his grandfather made.

Sophia knew this, but she has always liked Caden ever since, which is why to her, the engagement was like a blessing in disguise, she knew Caden didn’t like her enough to marry her.

They only interacted a few times, mostly during family occasions. But to her, it was as if she knew all of him, but he was actually far off from what she imagined.

And since fate gave her a chance, she vowed to do everything she could to please Caden, and strive to have a perfect life with him.

“And do you Sophia, take Caden as your lawfully wedded husband? To love, to hold, and to obey him?” The priest asked her.

Before she answered, she looked at his eyes and saw that it was void of anything, her heart skipped a beat knowing that Caden was only forced to do this, but she was selfish at this point, just this once she wanted to get rid of her good nature, she was driven by her love for him.

So she finally closed her eyes, and spoke the words that would finally bind them together as one.

“I do.” She said, and all their family and friends who watched on the sideline smiled at them.

“Then, by the power vested on me, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may now kiss the bride.” The priest raised his hands up, finally concluding the Holy Matrimony.

Sophia gazed at him with expecting eyes, and this time she finally saw the emotions in his eyes, but it was anything but joy.

It was disgust, hate and anger which crushed her heart. She waited for him to kiss her, but then out of nowhere, a phone rang.

Everyone was curious who brought a phone to a sacred event, but then they were shocked to see it was actually Caden who picked his phone up from his pockets.

Everyone was looking at him, and suddenly they saw his eyes dilated and he stormed out. Leaving Sophia in the altar alone.

Sophia could only stare at his figure, she couldn’t shout his name, she felt like she didn't deserve to say his name at this moment. She knew he probably needed some time, so she wants to give him his space if that's what he wants.

The crowd was literally in chaos right now. Especially Caden and Sophia's parents. They all looked at her, thinking she knew where he was going.

She slowly descended, and approached her parents. Everyone was waiting for her to cry or have an emotional breakdown because of what happened. But all she said was, “Let’s go home”. She said it while giving her softest smile as she hid her pain from everyone, but if you looked at her closer, you could see a tear had escaped her eyes.

She now realized the life waiting for her ahead. But she couldn’t be angry, she knows she doesn’t deserve to be angry, she wanted this, so she just has to accept the consequences of the path she chose to take from now on.

A life with Caden. And unsure life with him.

Oh my God.. I don't know what to say can but I think Caden shouldn't do that in one of his special day.. don't bring your someone special down although you didn't love her first yet.. at least she chose you and you chose her.. and the wedding has been done.. ...
