Chapter 24: Hasty escape

Selene's pov.

It has not always been easy, I have had to do a lot of jobs, and a lot of menial work just to get what the other kids could easily afford.

My mother's health did not make things much better and I had to do the best for the both of us, but it never bothered me one bit.

But I never complained, I never felt like I was missing out, and all I ever did was love those around me.

So why me? Why was the world so ready to destroy me?

To hate me.

“It's empty,” I said. “It's all empty.”

“This doesn't make sense,” Darius muttered.

“Where's the prophecy?” I asked Darius. He was busy staring at a blank page of paper. Panic was beginning to set into my mind and I could not deal with him panicking first.

I grabbed him by the shoulders and shook him “Daruis!! Why are they empty?”

He turned to me with confused eyes. “ I don't- I don't know.” He scratched his head and returned to study the blank pages.

What the hell did he mean by that? He picked the book, he had to know.
