Chapter 40

Logan's POV

It was dawn and I couldn't feel more grateful when the cock crowed. I had stayed up all through the night wallowing in my worries. It was a sleepless and turbulent night for me.

Jennifer could have been my perfect bait. All I needed was to ask her some leading questions, but having known that she was as sly as a fox, she would catch on easily, she would realize that I had caught her.

Without putting on the light in my room, I gropped into my bathroom. I spilled some water over my face, brushed my teeth, and changed out of my pajamas.

I flipped on my disguise which consisted of an overflowing cloak and a hood. Securing the hood, I made my way out of the palace through the secret tunnel.

Guards were securing the secret tunnel, but I knew the security wasn't always tight. I scurried around, making use of the shadows cast by the lamps.

In no time I was by the tunnel. As far as my eyes could see, there were only two guards in sight and they were both asleep.
