First day

Ariellas Pov

(Warning this book can be read as a stand alone but has a book before it called The Goddess of wisdom and creation.)

"Ariella are you ready?" My father asked for the hundred time. I could only roll my eyes. Nomatter how many times I told him I would come down when I was ready he kept coming to my bathroom door.

I mean I knew I was running late but I couldn't help that I wanted to look perfect for my first day at the most sought out school in all realms. Plus I couldn't help it that my curls were nearly impossible to tame.

Just looking in the mirror was giving me anxiety. The light make up I had looked perfect but it was my hair I was struggling with.

"Ariella school started 10 minutes ago." My father yelled from down stairs. He sounded annoyed and that was all I needed to snap out of the never ending brushing that I was doing.

I couldn't mess this up. Even though my hair was a frizzy mess because off all the brushing, I had no choice but to put my brush down. For years I had tried to convince my father to let me go to school but I was forbidden. I couldn't mess this up.

You see I'm not your average Goddess. I'm far from it. When I was born I was missing one thing, my powers. Turns out before my mother died while giving birth to me, she took every drop of my power trying to save herself. So not only am I powerless but I'm also motherless.

It's kind of ironic that my father was the God of Good fortune and we ended up with so much bad fortune in one day.

"Ariella." My father snapped me out of my thoughts with a bang on the door.

"I'm coming." I rushed out. One last glance at myself in the mirror and I was running out my perfectly organized room.

I woke up hours earlier to make sure my outfit was perfect and makeup was just right. How it took me every minute to get ready was beyond me.

My hair seemed to have a mind of its own and nomatter how many times I straightened it, my curls still made an appearance. It was frustrating.

"25 minutes late. Maybe you should just stay home instead of going to the academy. I don't need letters sent for your tardiness." My father threatened as I ran down the stairs taking two steps at a time.

The unladylike cry that I made said it all. "It won't happen again." I rushed out. I couldn't stay home any longer. I needed friends and to see more than my back yard and the inside of our two story house.

My father gave me a scrutinizing look before he was sighing and shaking his head. I couldn't help the little hop from foot to foot I made. I needed this. My excitement was so thick it was probably contagious.

"Let's go than." He sighed as he grabbed my arm. One last look at our simple living room was all I got before I was heading out. This was it. My new start.

Butterflies filled me as I realized that I wouldn't see my father for a long time. Unlike mortals we didn't get breaks to go home. 4 years of being at the academy and no going home. Unless we had dinners at the academy or ceremonies I wouldn't get to hug my father or laugh with him for a long time.

Would I remember my very pink room and bright white bathroom? Or would I forget the way my father's eyes crinkled when he was happy even though he was a God and wasn't suppose to have any wrinkles. Would I remember the bright smile he gave me every time I remembered something he taught me?

"Are you okay because we are here?" He whispered pulling me out of my second guessing thoughts. It would be fine. I wanted and needed this.

I looked up to a huge white and golden building. "Its only one building?" I asked in astonishment instead of answering his question. How could I, I was far from okay.

The pillers that were at the front entrance were huge. The building looked as big as a mortal football field. It was big but was it big enough?

"It's magically infused. It's bigger in the inside. You'll love it." He stated as he dragged me forward towards the big double doors.

It seemed like he had turned around and was more excited about this transition. His eyes twinkled as he looked at the building that looked more like a government building than a school.

The excitement I felt earlier was replaced with fear and anticipation. I dragged my feet slowly as we walked up the the building steps that seemed to get bigger the more we ascended the steps. My father had to teleport us up half way up.

Did they not account for Gods that didn't have powers? I mean yes I was one of the only Goddesses born without but there were also God's who lost their powers because of breaking laws. I heard the laws here were strict and the high king was brutal and unforgiving.

Never in existence did dark rule until the high king took over everything the moment he killed his wife. He was ruthless and my father said he was not one to be crossed. If I seen him I was to go the other way. I definitely would be taking his warning to heart.

"Ready." My dad broke me out my thoughts again. I definitely had to get use to paying more attention.

The huge door opened before I could reach for the handle. My eyes went big as I looked through the doors. When my father said it was amazing he wasn't lying.

Anticipation took over completely as I looked at the open courtyard with green grass that was a radiant dark green. The buildings that scattered all around were a whitish gray and made this school yard look older than it was. The high king had this created alittle after I was born. So it was no more than 18 years old.
