I watched him leave, not looking behind and closing the door behind him. I sighed when I was alone. One look at the drawing and he recognized it, I could tell from how he stared at it; sparkles of recognition in his eyes. He had stared at the sketch long and hard, completely oblivious to the fact that I was watching him. When I thought he was done, he had surprised me by asking if he could keep it, a request I still find odd.

I looked at the pair of eyes that sat in the middle of the book, they were beautiful. A tiny part of me hurt at the realization that this almost masterpiece would end up with Gwaine. I added gold circles to the iris to represent Vilkus’s presence within him.

I thought about how far we’ve come over these few weeks. He went from being my master and torturer to a friend. Well, maybe I considered him more than a friend but that truth belongs in my head.
